يحتفي هذا النشيد السوميّ البافامانا بسوما المعصور بوصفه جداول سريعة مدوّية تندفع كالعربات، فتجلب للقائم بالقرابين القوة والوفرة والرؤية المُلهَمة. ويؤكد النشيد قدرة سوما على التطهير والإيضاح: إذ يمضي عبر المصفاة فيغدو «واضحَ البصيرة»، ويوقظ dhī (الفكر المُلهَم). كما يُمدَح سوما بوصفه مسترجِعَ الثروة الخفية من أيدي الـPaṇi، وبوصفه من يُثبّت «الخيطَ الممدود»، رمزًا لاستمرار الطقس وتحقّق المعرفة.

एते सोमास आशवो रथा इव प्र वाजिनः । सर्गाः सृष्टा अहेषत ॥
هؤلاء سوما (Soma) السريعون، كالعربات، يندفعون إلى الأمام—حَمَلةُ القوّة والوفرة (vājin)؛ وقد أُطلِقوا كجداول، فيُدوّون في فيضهم.

एते वाता इवोरवः पर्जन्यस्येव वृष्टयः । अग्नेरिव भ्रमा वृथा ॥
هؤلاء يمضون كالرِّياحِ في صَخَبِهمِ الفسيح؛ وكأمطارِ بَرْجَنْيَا يَنسَكِبون؛ وكدوّاماتِ لهيبِ أَغْنِي يَدورون—يُبَدِّدون الخمولَ ويَشُقّون ما انغلق.

एते पूता विपश्चितः सोमासो दध्याशिरः । विपा व्यानशुर्धियः ॥
هذه السُّوما المُطهَّرة، البصيرةُ النافذة، الممزوجةُ باللَّبَنِ المُخَثَّر، قد بَلَغَت على سَعةٍ خواطرَ الإلهام؛ وتمضي كقُوى الرُّؤاة، فاتحةً الذكاءَ في جهاتٍ شتّى.

एते पृष्ठानि रोदसोर्विप्रयन्तो व्यानशुः । उतेदमुत्तमं रजः ॥
هؤلاء، إذ يمضون كرُؤاةٍ مُلهَمين، قد بَلَغوا على سَعةٍ ذُرى العالَمَين؛ وبلغوا أيضًا هذا الرَّجَسَ الأسمى—الفَسْحَةَ النورانيّةَ الأعلى.

त्वं सोम पणिभ्य आ वसु गव्यानि धारयः । ततं तन्तुमचिक्रदः ॥
يا سوما، أنتَ تسترجع من البَنيّين (Paṇi) ثروةَ الأشعّة المضيئة (gavyāni) وتُمسكها مُحكَمة. لقد ثبّتَّ الخيطَ الممدود—استمرارَ العمل وطريقَ التحقّق.
