এই সোম পবমান সূক্তে পেষিত সোমকে স্তব করা হয়েছে—দ্রুতগামী, গর্জনময় স্রোতরূপে, যা রথের মতো উচ্ছ্বসিত হয়ে যজমানকে বল, প্রাচুর্য ও প্রেরিত দৃষ্টি দান করে। এতে সোমের শোধন ও স্পষ্টকারী শক্তির ওপর জোর দেওয়া হয়েছে—সে ছাঁকনি/পবিত্রের মধ্য দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হয়ে ‘স্বচ্ছ-দ্রষ্টা’ হয় এবং ধী (প্রেরিত বুদ্ধি/চিন্তা) জাগিয়ে তোলে। সোমকে পণিদের কাছ থেকে গোপন ধন পুনরুদ্ধারকারী এবং ‘প্রসারিত সূতা/তন্তু’কে দৃঢ়কারী হিসেবেও প্রশংসা করা হয়েছে—যা যজ্ঞক্রিয়া ও উপলব্ধির ধারাবাহিকতার প্রতীক।

एते सोमास आशवो रथा इव प्र वाजिनः । सर्गाः सृष्टा अहेषत ॥
এই সোমগণ আশু (দ্রুত); রথের ন্যায় অগ্রসর হয়—বাজিন্ (বল-সমৃদ্ধ) বাহক। সর্গ (ধারা) মুক্ত হয়ে গর্জন করতে করতে প্রবাহিত হলো।

एते वाता इवोरवः पर्जन्यस्येव वृष्टयः । अग्नेरिव भ्रमा वृथा ॥
এরা (সোমরস) বায়ুর মতো তাদের বিস্তৃত ধ্বনিতে চলমান; পর্জন্যের বৃষ্টির মতো ধারায় ঝরে পড়ে; আর অগ্নির ঘূর্ণায়মান শিখার মতো চক্রাকারে ঘোরে—জড়তা ছিন্নভিন্ন করে, আবদ্ধতাকে ভেঙে উন্মুক্ত করে।

एते पूता विपश्चितः सोमासो दध्याशिरः । विपा व्यानशुर्धियः ॥
এরা শুদ্ধ, বিপশ্চিৎ—দূরদর্শী—সোম; দধি-আশির (দই-মিশ্রিত) হয়ে প্রেরিত ধীসমূহকে বিস্তৃতভাবে অর্জন করেছে; তারা বিপা—ঋষিশক্তি—রূপে গমন করে, বুদ্ধিকে বহু দিক দিয়ে উন্মুক্ত করে।

एते पृष्ठानि रोदसोर्विप्रयन्तो व्यानशुः । उतेदमुत्तमं रजः ॥
এরা, বিপ্র—প্রেরিত ঋষি—রূপে চলতে চলতে, দুই লোকের (রোদসী) পৃষ্ঠ—উচ্চ শিখরসমূহ—পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃতভাবে পৌঁছেছে; এবং এই উত্তম রজঃ—পরম আলোকময় লোক, সর্বোচ্চ বিস্তার—ও অর্জন করেছে।

त्वं सोम पणिभ्य आ वसु गव्यानि धारयः । ततं तन्तुमचिक्रदः ॥
হে সোম! তুমি পণিদের কাছ থেকে গব্যাণি—গো-সম্পদা/দীপ্ত রশ্মির ধন—ফিরিয়ে আনো এবং তা দৃঢ়ভাবে ধারণ করো। তুমি প্রসারিত তন্তুকে স্থির ও দৃঢ় করেছ।
