Agni
Gāyatrī
एषः संक्षिप्तः गायत्रीस्तोत्रः भरतानाम् स्वकीयम् अग्निं—यविष्ठं तथापि अग्र्यं—आह्वयति, यत् सः तेजस्वि बहुकाम्यं धनं क्षेमं च आनयेत् इति। अस्य शुद्धत्वं विशालं च दीप्तिमत् सन्निधानं स्तूयते; घृताहुतिभिः स वर्ध्यते इति, तथा च स प्राचीनः वर्यः होतृः सन् यज्ञं सिद्धिं प्रति वहति इति प्रतिपाद्यते।

विश्वा उत त्वया वयं धारा उदन्या इव । अति गाहेमहि द्विषः ॥
त्वया सह वयं सर्वान् द्विषः अतिक्रम्य पारं गच्छेम—यथा उदन्याः धारा जीवतो जलस्य प्रतिबन्धकतीरान् अतिक्रम्य प्रवहन्ति।

शुचिः पावक वन्द्योऽग्ने बृहद्वि रोचसे । त्वं घृतेभिराहुतः ॥
शुचिः पावकः वन्द्यः, अग्ने, बृहति रोचसे; त्वं घृतेभिः आहुतः प्रज्वलसि वर्धसे च।

त्वं नो असि भारताग्ने वशाभिरुक्षभिः । अष्टापदीभिराहुतः ॥
त्वं नः असि भारताग्ने; वशाभिः उक्षभिः च आहुतः—अष्टापदीभिः बहुपदैः छन्दोभिः, यैः हविः अग्रे नीयते।

द्र्वन्नः सर्पिरासुतिः प्रत्नो होता वरेण्यः । सहसस्पुत्रो अद्भुतः ॥
घृतसारासुत्या द्रवन्नः स अयं प्रत्नो वरॆण्यो होता—अग्निः—सहसः पुत्रोऽद्भुतः; अस्मासु अन्तः आह्वानकर्म गृह्णाति।
