આ ગૂઢ સૂક્ત એક જ છુપાયેલા બ્રહ્માંડિય તત્ત્વનું ચિંતન કરે છે—જે અગ્નિ–સૂર્ય રૂપે, આંતરિક અગ્નિ અને સૌર દ્રષ્ટા તરીકે અનુભવી શકાય છે. તે “સમુદ્ર” સમી સમૃદ્ધિને ધારણ કરે છે અને જીવનના ઝરણામાં સ્થાપિત રહેલો ગુપ્ત માર્ગ પ્રગટ કરે છે. સૂક્ત છુપાયેલા પોષણ, ઋત (સત્ય-વ્યવસ્થા)ના માર્ગો, અને અદિતિની વિશાળતામાં સત્તા તથા અસત્તાના સૃષ્ટિમૂલ આલિંગન જેવી પ્રતિમાઓમાંથી પસાર થઈ, અંતે ઋતનો પ્રથમજન્મા અગ્નિ—બળ અને સમૃદ્ધિ બંનેનો સ્ત્રોત—રૂપે પરિપૂર્ણ થાય છે.

एकः समुद्रो धरुणो रयीणामस्मद्धृदो भूरिजन्मा वि चष्टे । सिषक्त्यूधर्निण्योरुपस्थ उत्सस्य मध्ये निहितं पदं वेः ॥
એક જ સમુદ્ર છે—રયિ (સમૃદ્ધિઓ)નો ધારક આધાર; અમારા હૃદયમાંથી બહુજન્મા તે જુએ છે અને પ્રગટ કરે છે. તે ગુપ્ત નિવાસમાં ઊધર (દૂધાળ થન) જોડે છે; ઉત્સ (ઝરણા)ના મધ્યમાં તેણે શોધક માટેનું પદચિહ્ન/પગથિયું સ્થાપ્યું છે.

समानं नीळं वृषणो वसानाः सं जग्मिरे महिषा अर्वतीभिः । ऋतस्य पदं कवयो नि पान्ति गुहा नामानि दधिरे पराणि ॥
એક જ નીડ (નિવાસ) ધારણ કરીને, વृषણ (વીર્યવાન) મહિષો અર્વતી (ઘોડીઓ/રથઘોડાઓ) સાથે એકત્ર થયા. કવિઓ ઋતનું પદ રક્ષે છે; ગુહામાં તેમણે પરમ નામો સ્થાપ્યાં.

ऋतायिनी मायिनी सं दधाते मित्वा शिशुं जज्ञतुर्वर्धयन्ती । विश्वस्य नाभिं चरतो ध्रुवस्य कवेश्चित्तन्तुं मनसा वियन्तः ॥
ઋતાયિની અને માયિની—બન્ને સાથે જોડાય છે; માપ કરીને તેઓ શિશુને જન્મ આપે છે અને તેને પોષે છે. તેઓ સર્વના નાભિ—ધ્રુવ (સ્થિર)ના આસપાસ વિચરે છે; કવિનો પણ તંતુ તેઓ મનથી વણે છે.

ऋतस्य हि वर्तनयः सुजातमिषो वाजाय प्रदिवः सचन्ते । अधीवासं रोदसी वावसाने घृतैरन्नैर्वावृधाते मधूनाम् ॥
ઋતના હિ માર્ગો સુજાત (સુજન્મેલા) તત્ત્વને અનુસરે છે; પ્રદિવ (અગ્ર-દિવ્ય આકાશ)માંથી બળની પૂર્ણતા માટે પ્રેરણાઓ જોડાય છે. આવરણ ધારણ કરીને રોદસી—દેવલોક અને પૃથ્વી—ઘૃતસમાન સમૃદ્ધિથી, આનંદદાયક અન્નોથી, અને મધુરતાઓથી વૃદ્ધિ પામે છે.

सप्त स्वसॄररुषीर्वावशानो विद्वान्मध्व उज्जभारा दृशे कम् । अन्तर्येमे अन्तरिक्षे पुराजा इच्छन्वव्रिमविदत्पूषणस्य ॥
જાગૃત અને વિદ્વાન બની, તેણે મધુરતામાંથી દર્શન માટે સાત અરુષી (રુદ્રવર્ણ) બહેનોને ઉપર લાવી. આ પુરાજા (પ્રાચીનજન્મેલા) મધ્યાકાશમાં અંતરિત રાખવામાં આવ્યા હતા; શોધતા શોધતા તેણે પૂષણના ગુપ્ત આવરણ/વાડાને શોધી કાઢ્યો.

सप्त मर्यादाः कवयस्ततक्षुस्तासामेकामिदभ्यंहुरो गात् । आयोर्ह स्कम्भ उपमस्य नीळे पथां विसर्गे धरुणेषु तस्थौ ॥
સાત મર્યાદાઓ (દૃઢ સીમાઓ) કવિઓએ સત્તામાં ઘડી; અને તેમાંની એક જ પથને સંકોચ (સાંકડીતા) પાર કરી શકે છે. ત્યાં પરમ (ઉપમ)નો આધારસ્તંભ ગુપ્ત નીળે સ્થિત છે—પથોના વિસર્ગમાં, ધારણ કરનારા આધારભૂત તત્ત્વોમાં સ્થિર.

असच्च सच्च परमे व्योमन्दक्षस्य जन्मन्नदितेरुपस्थे । अग्निर्ह नः प्रथमजा ऋतस्य पूर्व आयुनि वृषभश्च धेनुः ॥
અસત્ અને સત્ પરમ વ્યોમમાં એકસાથે સ્થિત છે—દક્ષના જન્મમાં, અદિતિના વિશાળ અંકમાં. ત્યાં અગ્નિ અમારા માટે ઋતનો પ્રથમજ, જીવનમાં પ્રાચીન—એક સાથે વૃષભ-બળ અને સમૃદ્ધિ આપતી ધેનુ છે.
