Este himno alaba a las potencias gemelas Indra–Agni como descubridores y seguros poseedores de la «Vaca» de la inspiración (manīṣā), una fuente fluyente de alimento, visión y victoria. Vincula la iluminación poética con la acción sacrificial —en especial el prensado del Soma— para que la abundancia oculta ascienda hacia los dioses y regrese como guía, prosperidad y una «buena mente» universal.

Mantra 1
प्र मे विविक्वाँ अविदन्मनीषां धेनुं चरन्तीं प्रयुतामगोपाम् । सद्यश्चिद्या दुदुहे भूरि धासेरिन्द्रस्तदग्निः पनितारो अस्याः ॥
Para mí, el discerniente halló el pensamiento inspirado: la Vaca que avanza, llevada lejos y sin guardián. Al instante derramó abundante sustento de su propia sustancia; Indra y Agni fueron sus buscadores y poseedores.

इन्द्रः सु पूषा वृषणा सुहस्ता दिवो न प्रीताः शशयं दुदुह्रे । विश्वे यदस्यां रणयन्त देवाः प्र वोऽत्र वसवः सुम्नमश्याम् ॥
Indra y Pūṣan, toros fuertes de buenas manos, ordeñaron la dulzura reposada, como el cielo que se regocija. Cuando todos los dioses se deleitan en ella, que aquí alcancemos vuestro favor, oh Vasus.

या जामयो वृष्ण इच्छन्ति शक्तिं नमस्यन्तीर्जानते गर्भमस्मिन् । अच्छा पुत्रं धेनवो वावशाना महश्चरन्ति बिभ्रतं वपूंषि ॥
Esas hermanas que buscan el Poder del poderoso (Vṛṣan), inclinándose, llegan a conocer el embrión en esto. Llamando hacia el Hijo, las Vacas mugen; en lo Vasto avanzan, llevando sus formas.

अच्छा विवक्मि रोदसी सुमेके ग्राव्णो युजानो अध्वरे मनीषा । इमा उ ते मनवे भूरिवारा ऊर्ध्वा भवन्ति दर्शता यजत्राः ॥
A Cielo-y-Tierra, los dos bien asentados, pronuncio la palabra, unciendo la piedra de prensar en el sacrificio con pensamiento inspirado. Estos (dones) para ti, oh Manu —el pensador— rico en bienes deseables, se alzan hacia lo alto: visibles, dignos de ofrenda.

या ते जिह्वा मधुमती सुमेधा अग्ने देवेषूच्यत उरूची । तयेह विश्वाँ अवसे यजत्राना सादय पायया चा मधूनि ॥
Esa lengua tuya, llena de miel y de fino discernimiento, oh Agni, es nombrada entre los dioses como de amplio resplandor. Con ella, aquí, sienta a todos los poderes adorables para nuestra ayuda y hazles beber las dulzuras.

या ते अग्ने पर्वतस्येव धारासश्चन्ती पीपयद्देव चित्रा । तामस्मभ्यं प्रमतिं जातवेदो वसो रास्व सुमतिं विश्वजन्याम् ॥
Esa corriente tuya, oh Agni — como el ímpetu de un torrente de montaña—, incesante, de múltiples matices, que hace prosperar a todos: concédenos esa guía clara, oh Jātavedas, oh Vasu; otórganos la buena mente, universal para todos los pueblos.
