Soma (Pavamāna)
ଏହି ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ପବମାନ ସୂକ୍ତରେ ସୋମଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଶଂସା କରାଯାଇଛି—ସେ ଶୋଧିତ ହୋଇ ପବିତ୍ର ଆସନମାନେ ସ୍ଥାପିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ବୀର୍ୟ ଓ ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ୟ ବହନ କରନ୍ତି, ଯାହା ସଫଳ ଓ “ସୁକୃତ” ଯଜ୍ଞକର୍ମକୁ ସମର୍ଥନ କରେ। ସୋମଙ୍କୁ ରାଜସ୍ୱରୂପ ଓ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗଜାତ ବୋଲି ସମ୍ବୋଧନ କରାଯାଇଛି; ସେ ଧନ ଓ ବଳ ଆଣନ୍ତି, ଏବଂ ପ୍ରେରିତ ହେଲେ ଅଧିକ “ଇନ୍ଦ୍ର-ଶକ୍ତି”ରେ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇ ଇଚ୍ଛିତ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ ଓ ବିସ୍ତୃତ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ବଳ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରନ୍ତି।

Mantra 1
तं त्वा नृम्णानि बिभ्रतं सधस्थेषु महो दिवः । चारुं सुकृत्ययेमहे ॥
ହେ ସୋମ! ମହା ଦିବ (ଦିବ୍ୟ ଆକାଶ)ର ସଧସ୍ଥ (ସାମୂହିକ ଆସନ)ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ନୃମ୍ଣ (ବୀରଶକ୍ତି) ଧାରଣ କରୁଥିବା ତୁମକୁ ଆମେ ଖୋଜୁଛୁ—ସୁକୃତ୍ୟ (ସତ୍କର୍ମ) ଓ ସିଦ୍ଧ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପାଇଁ ମନୋହର ତୁମକୁ ଆମେ ଉପାସନା କରୁଛୁ।

संवृक्तधृष्णुमुक्थ्यं महामहिव्रतं मदम् । शतं पुरो रुरुक्षणिम् ॥
ସଂବୃକ୍ତ (ଶୁଦ୍ଧୀକୃତ) ଓ ଧୃଷ୍ଣୁ (ଧୈର୍ୟଶାଳୀ) ତୁମେ ଉକ୍ଥ୍ୟ (ସ୍ତୁତିଯୋଗ୍ୟ); ମହା ମହିବ୍ରତ (ବିଶାଳ-ମହାନିୟମ)ର ମଦ (ଆନନ୍ଦ-ଉନ୍ମାଦ) ତୁମେ—ଆକ୍ରମଣ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସତ୍ତାର ଶତ ପୁରଃ (ମୁଖ/ମୋର୍ଚ୍ଚା)କୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରୁଥିବା।

अतस्त्वा रयिमभि राजानं सुक्रतो दिवः । सुपर्णो अव्यथिर्भरत् ॥
ଅତଃ, ହେ ସୁକ୍ରତୁ ରାଜନ୍, ଦିବଃରୁ ଆସୁଥିବା ରୟି (ସମୃଦ୍ଧି)କୁ ତୋ ପାଖକୁ—ସୁପର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ଅବ୍ୟଥିତ (ଅଶାନ୍ତିହୀନ), ସୁନ୍ଦର ପଖିଲା ପକ୍ଷୀ—ବହି ଆଣେ।

विश्वस्मा इत्स्वर्दृशे साधारणं रजस्तुरम् । गोपामृतस्य विर्भरत् ॥
ଆଲୋକର ଦର୍ଶକ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଋଷିଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ସେ ସାଧାରଣ ନିଧି ଆଣେ—ରଜସ୍ (ମଧ୍ୟଲୋକ) ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତୁର (ଦ୍ରୁତ) ଗତିରେ—ଋତ (ସତ୍ୟକ୍ରମ)ର ଗୋପା (ରକ୍ଷକ)କୁ ବହି ଆଣେ।

अधा हिन्वान इन्द्रियं ज्यायो महित्वमानशे । अभिष्टिकृद्विचर्षणिः ॥
ତାପରେ, ପ୍ରେରିତ ହୋଇ ଆଗକୁ ଧାଉଥିବା ସେ ମହତ୍ତର ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରିୟ (ଇନ୍ଦ୍ର-ଶକ୍ତି)କୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କରେ ଏବଂ ବିଶାଳ ମହିମାକୁ ପହଞ୍ଚେ—ଅଭିଷ୍ଟି-କୃତ୍ (ଇଚ୍ଛିତ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ ଜିତୁଥିବା), ବିଚର୍ଷଣି (ବ୍ୟାପକ ଶକ୍ତି)ଯୁକ୍ତ।
