Soma (Pavamāna)
આ ટૂંકું પાવમાન સોમસૂક્ત સોમના સ્વ-શોધનનું આવાહન કરે છે—તે બ્રહ્માંડવ્યાપી તેમજ યજ્ઞવિધિમાં થતું શુદ્ધિકરણ છે; તે વરસાદ જેવી પોષકતા અને શક્તિશાળી, આરોગ્યદાયક પ્રેરણાઓ ઉપાસકોને આપે છે. સોમને વિનંતી છે કે તે યજ્ઞમાં સ્વચ્છ, ઘી જેવી ધારા બની વહે, વૈરી શક્તિઓને દૂર હાંકે અને સત્ય તથા ઋતના પ્રાચીન પ્રકાશોને ફરી પ્રજ્વલિત કરે.

Mantra 1
पवस्व वृष्टिमा सु नोऽपामूर्मिं दिवस्परि । अयक्ष्मा बृहतीरिषः ॥
હે સોમ! તું પોતાને પવિત્ર કર; અમારે ઉપર વૃષ્ટિ વરસાવ—દિવસપારથી આવતી આપઃની ઊર્મિ (તરંગ) સમી; નિરામય, મહાન પ્રેરણાઓ (ઇષઃ) લાવનાર બન.
Mantra 2
तया पवस्व धारया यया गाव इहागमन् । जन्यास उप नो गृहम् ॥
તે જ ધારાથી તું પવિત્ર થા—જે ધારાથી ગાવઃ (કિરણો/પ્રકાશ-રશ્મિઓ) અહીં આવે છે; અને જન્યાસઃ (સગા-સંબંધિત દેવશક્તિઓ) અમારા ગૃહ (દેહ-નિવાસ) પાસે નજીક આવે.

घृतं पवस्व धारया यज्ञेषु देववीतमः । अस्मभ्यं वृष्टिमा पव ॥
ઘૃત સમી તેજસ્વી રસરૂપે તું ધારામાં પવિત્ર થઈ વહે; યજ્ઞોમાં, હે દેવવીતમ (દેવોને અતિપ્રિય)! અમારે માટે વૃષ્ટિરૂપે પણ પવિત્ર થઈ વહે—પોષક પૂર્ણતાનો અવતાર ઉતાર.

स न ऊर्जे व्यव्ययं पवित्रं धाव धारया । देवासः शृणवन्हि कम् ॥
તે અમારાં ઊર્જા-વર્ધન માટે—અવ્યય—પવિત્ર (છલણી)માંથી ધારા રૂપે દોડી નીકળે છે. દેવો નિશ્ચયે અમારા અંદર ઊઠતી એ પુકારને સાંભળે છે.

पवमानो असिष्यदद्रक्षांस्यपजङ्घनत् । प्रत्नवद्रोचयन्रुचः ॥
પવમાન (સોમ) પોતે શુદ્ધ થતો આગળ ધસી જાય છે અને અંધકારની શક્તિઓને હાંકી કાઢે છે; પ્રાચીનની જેમ તે પ્રકાશોને ફરી તેજસ્વી કરે છે.
