Soma Pavamāna
આ સંક્ષિપ્ત પવમાન સ્તુતિમાં, દબાવી પિરસીને ઊનના ગાળણમાંથી શુદ્ધ થતો સોમ નદી-તરંગની જેમ શક્તિ અને નાદ સાથે ઉછળી વહે છે—તેનું ગાન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. તેમાં સોમના મધુર, ઉલ્લાસજનક રસનું અને ઇન્દ્ર માટે પાનરૂપ બનવા તેની તત્પરતાનું વર્ણન છે, જે વિજયી પરાક્રમ અને પ્રેરિત વાણી ને બળ આપે છે.

उत्ते शुष्मास ईरते सिन्धोरूर्मेरिव स्वनः । वाणस्य चोदया पविम् ॥
હે સિંધુ! તારા શુષ્મા (પ્રબળ બળો) ઊભા થાય છે; નદીની તરંગના ગર્જન જેવી તારી ધ્વનિ છે. વાણીની પ્રેરક શક્તિ—માર્ગ ચીરી કાઢતી પવિ (ધાર)—ને આગળ ધપાવ.

प्रसवे त उदीरते तिस्रो वाचो मखस्युवः । यदव्य एषि सानवि ॥
તારા પ્રેરણાથી યજ્ઞકામિ ત્રણ વાણીઓ ઉદ્ભવે છે; જ્યારે તું અવ્ય—ઘેટાંના ઊન—પર, પવિત્ર (છાણણી)ની સાનુ/કાંઠા પર ગમે છે.

अव्यो वारे परि प्रियं हरिं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः । पवमानं मधुश्चुतम् ॥
અવ્યના વારે—ઊનની ઘેરીમાં—પ્રિય હરિ (તામ્રવર્ણ)ને ચારે તરફથી તેઓ અદ્રિભિઃ, પિષણ-પથ્થરો વડે, આગળ ધપાવે છે—પવમાન સોમ, મધુ ઝરતો.

आ पवस्व मदिन्तम पवित्रं धारया कवे । अर्कस्य योनिमासदम् ॥
હે અતિ મદકારક, પવિત્રમાંથી ધારા રૂપે વહેતો તું પવિત્ર થા અને આવ; હે કવિ, અર્ક (સ્તુતિ)ની યોનિ—ઉદ્ભવસ્થાન—માં આસન ગ્રહણ કર.

स पवस्व मदिन्तम गोभिरञ्जानो अक्तुभिः । इन्दविन्द्राय पीतये ॥
હે અતિ-મદપ્રદ પવમાન સોમ! ગો-કિરણોથી અને તેજસ્વી ઝળહળાટોથી અભિષિક્ત થઈ તું પવિત્ર થા. હે ઇન્દુ (સોમબિંદુ)! ઇન્દ્રના પાન માટે તું બની રહે—વિજયી સંકલ્પને બળ આપનાર.
