บทสวดตรีษฺฏุภะสั้น ๆ นี้อัญเชิญมิตรและวรุณะ โดยยกแบบอย่างของอาตริ (กล่าวถึงโดยตรงว่า atrivat) เชื้อเชิญให้ทั้งสอง “ประทับบนบรรหิษ” และเสวยโสมในพิธีบูชายัญ บทสวดสรรเสริญการปกครองอันมั่นคงของท่านทั้งสองด้วยวรตะ (บัญญัติผูกพัน) และธรรมะ พร้อมวอนขอให้ทรงทำให้สันติสุขมั่นคง ยับยั้งพลังอันก่อความปั่นป่วน และทรงยินดีในยัชญะเพื่อประโยชน์อันพึงปรารถนาที่ผู้บูชาตั้งใจไว้ (อิษฏิ)

आ मित्रे वरुणे वयं गीर्भिर्जुहुमो अत्रिवत् । नि बर्हिषि सदतं सोमपीतये ॥
เราทั้งหลายขอเชื้อเชิญมิตรและวรุณะด้วยบทสรรเสริญ ดังที่อัตริเคยเชื้อเชิญมาแล้ว ขอจงประทับนั่งบนบรรหิษ (barhis) คือที่นั่งแห่งหญ้าพิธี เพื่อดื่มโสมะ (Soma)

व्रतेन स्थो ध्रुवक्षेमा धर्मणा यातयज्जना । नि बर्हिषि सदतं सोमपीतये ॥
ด้วยวรตะ (vrata) จงตั้งมั่นให้ความเกษมอันแน่วแน่ไม่หวั่นไหวบังเกิด; ด้วยธรรมะ (dharma) อันค้ำจุน จงยับยั้งหมู่ชนผู้ก่อความปั่นป่วน. จงประทับนั่งบนบัรหิษ (barhis) เพื่อเสวยโสมะ (Soma).
