ഈ സംക്ഷിപ്ത ത്രിഷ്ടുഭ് സ്തോത്രം അത്രിയുടെ മാതൃക (അത്രിവത്) മുൻനിർത്തി മിത്ര–വരുണന്മാരെ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു; യാഗത്തിൽ അവർ ബർഹിസിൽ ഇരുന്ന് സോമം ആസ്വദിക്കണമെന്നു ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നു. വ്രതം (ബന്ധനനിയമം) ധർമ്മം എന്നിവയിലൂടെ അവരുടെ അചഞ്ചലമായ ഭരണത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ച്, സമാധാനം സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുത്താനും, കലഹകരമായ ശക്തികളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനും, ആരാധകന്റെ ഇഷ്ടിക്കായി യജ്ഞത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കാനും പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു.

आ मित्रे वरुणे वयं गीर्भिर्जुहुमो अत्रिवत् । नि बर्हिषि सदतं सोमपीतये ॥
മിത്രനെയും വരുണനെയും ഞങ്ങൾ ഗീർഭിഃ (സ്തുതിഗീതങ്ങളാൽ) ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു, അത്രി ഒരിക്കൽ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ; സോമപാനത്തിനായി ബർഹിഷി (പവിത്രാസനം)മേൽ ഇരിക്കുവിൻ—ആനന്ദം യഥാവിധി സ്വീകരിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.

വ്രതത്താൽ നിങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിരരാകുവിൻ—ധ്രുവക്ഷേമം (അചഞ്ചലമായ ശാന്തി) സ്ഥാപിക്കുവിൻ; ധർമ്മത്താൽ അശാന്തി വിതയ്ക്കുന്ന ജനപ്രേരണകളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുവിൻ. ബർഹിഷി (പവിത്രാസനം) മേൽ ഇരിക്കുവിൻ, സോമപാനത്തിനായി.
