ಈ ಸಂಕ್ಷಿಪ್ತ ಪವಮಾನ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವು ಗಾಯತ್ರೀ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮವನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಗಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನ ಬಿಂದು (ಇಂದು) ಯನ್ನು ಅನೇಕನೇತ್ರ, ಸರ್ವಗ್ರಾಹಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಂಡಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಸೋಮದ ಯಜ್ಞಗತಿಯನ್ನೂ—ಛಾನಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮೀರಿ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಹರಿದು ಕಲಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವುದನ್ನೂ—ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ, ಆ ಶುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರವಾಹವನ್ನು ಇಂದ್ರನ ಅಂತರಾನಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ, ಸೋಮನು ಶಾಂತಿಯಾಗಿ ಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಜಾವತ್ ರೇತಃ—ಸಂತಾನೋತ್ಪಾದಕ, ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿದಾಯಕ ಸೃಜನಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು—ತಂದುಕೊಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

प्र गायत्रेण गायत पवमानं विचर्षणिम् । इन्दुं सहस्रचक्षसम् ॥
ಗಾಯತ್ರೀ ಛಂದದಿಂದ ಹಾಡಿರಿ—ಪವಮಾನ ಸೋಮವನ್ನು, ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವವನನ್ನು; ಸಹಸ್ರಚಕ್ಷು (ಸಾವಿರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ) ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನ ಇಂದುವನ್ನು.

तं त्वा सहस्रचक्षसमथो सहस्रभर्णसम् । अति वारमपाविषुः ॥
ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು—ಸಹಸ್ರಚಕ್ಷುವನ್ನೂ ಸಹಸ್ರಭರ್ಣಸ (ಸಾವಿರ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುವವ)ನನ್ನೂ—ಅವರು ವಾರ (ಛಾನಣಿ) ಮೂಲಕ ಶುದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ವಿಭಜಕ ಜಾಲಿಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿಸಿ.

अति वारान्पवमानो असिष्यदत्कलशाँ अभि धावति । इन्द्रस्य हार्द्याविशन् ॥
ಪವಮಾನನು ಛಾನಣಿಗಳನ್ನು (ವಾರಾನ್) ಮೀರಿಸಿ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಕಲಶಗಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿ, ಇಂದ್ರನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
