ଏହି ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ପବମାନ ସୂକ୍ତରେ ଗାୟତ୍ରୀ ଛନ୍ଦରେ ସୋମଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ତୁତି କରିବାକୁ ଗାୟକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆହ୍ୱାନ କରାଯାଇଛି; ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ବିନ୍ଦୁ (ଇନ୍ଦୁ) କୁ ବହୁ-ନୟନ, ସର୍ବଦର୍ଶୀ ଶକ୍ତି ଭାବେ ଉତ୍ସବ କରାଯାଏ। ଏହା ସୋମଙ୍କ ଯଜ୍ଞୀୟ ଗତିକୁ ଅନୁସରଣ କରେ—ଛାଣନୀକୁ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରି ଦ୍ରୁତ ଧାଉଁଥିବା ଧାରା ଘଟମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରେ—ଏବଂ ସେହି ଶୁଦ୍ଧ ପ୍ରବାହକୁ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ଅନ୍ତର୍ନିହିତ ଆନନ୍ଦ ଓ ବଳ ସହ ଯୋଡ଼େ। ଶେଷରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଏ ଯେ ସୋମ ଶାନ୍ତିରେ ଶୁଦ୍ଧ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ ଏବଂ ‘ପ୍ରଜାବତ୍ ରେତଃ’—ସନ୍ତାନଦାୟକ, ସମୃଦ୍ଧିବାହୀ ସୃଜନଶୀଳ ଶକ୍ତି—ପ୍ରଦାନ କରୁନ୍ତୁ।

प्र गायत्रेण गायत पवमानं विचर्षणिम् । इन्दुं सहस्रचक्षसम् ॥
ଗାୟତ୍ରୀ ଛନ୍ଦରେ ଗାଅ—ପବମାନ ସୋମକୁ, ସର୍ବତ୍ର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀକୁ; ସହସ୍ରଚକ୍ଷୁ (ହଜାର ନୟନଯୁକ୍ତ) ଦୀପ୍ତ ଇନ୍ଦୁକୁ।

तं त्वा सहस्रचक्षसमथो सहस्रभर्णसम् । अति वारमपाविषुः ॥
ତୁମକୁ—ସହସ୍ରଚକ୍ଷୁକୁ ଏବଂ ସହସ୍ରଭର୍ଣସ (ହଜାର ଶକ୍ତି ଧାରଣକାରୀ)କୁ—ସେମାନେ ୱାର (ଛାଣଣି) ଦ୍ୱାରା ଶୁଦ୍ଧ କରନ୍ତି, ବିଭେଦର ଛାଣଣିକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରି।

अति वारान्पवमानो असिष्यदत्कलशाँ अभि धावति । इन्द्रस्य हार्द्याविशन् ॥
ପବମାନ ଛାଣଣିଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ (ୱାରାନ) ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରି ବେଗେ ବହେ; କଳଶମାନଙ୍କ ଦିଗକୁ ଧାଉଛି, ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ହୃଦୟରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରି।

इन्द्रस्य सोम राधसे शं पवस्व विचर्षणे । प्रजावद्रेत आ भर ॥
ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ରାଧସ (କୃପା-ସମୃଦ୍ଧି) ପାଇଁ, ହେ ସୋମ, ହେ ବିଚର୍ଷଣ (ବ୍ୟାପକ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ତ୍ତା), ଶାନ୍ତିରୂପେ ପବିତ୍ର ହୋଇ ପ୍ରବାହିତ ହୁଅ; ପ୍ରଜାବନ୍ତ ରେତସ—ସନ୍ତତି-ସମୃଦ୍ଧ ସୃଜନଶକ୍ତି—ଏଠାକୁ ଆଣ।
