Agni
هذا النشيد الوجيز لأغني هو دعاء للحماية: يطلب الشاعر من أغني أن يكون الحضور الأقرب (antama) والملاذ الثابت (varūthya) للمتعبّدين. ويُستدعى أغني ليصحو، ويسمع النداء، ويوسّع قدرته الحارسة، وينقذ الجماعة من نوايا العداء. وتبلغ السوكته ذروتها في التماس نعمة أغني وعافية مباركة للرفاق المنخرطين في العمل المقدّس.

Mantra 1
अग्ने त्वं नो अन्तम उत त्राता शिवो भवा वरूथ्यः ॥
يا أغني، كُن لنا الأقرب في الداخل، وكن أيضًا حامينا؛ واصِرْ لنا مُيمونًا، قوةَ سترٍ وحِمىً حقّة.
Mantra 2
वसुरग्निर्वसुश्रवा अच्छा नक्षि द्युमत्तमं रयिं दाः ॥
أغني هو «فاسو»؛ الخيرُ المضيء، المشهورُ بالخير. تعالِ إلينا مباشرةً وامنحْنا أبهى الغنى الباطن.

स नो बोधि श्रुधी हवमुरुष्या णो अघायतः समस्मात् ॥
استيقظْ لنا، واصغِ إلى ندائنا؛ وسِّعْ حمايتَك لنا وأنقِذْنا من الذي يريد أن يؤذينا—من تلك النيّة الشريرة.

तं त्वा शोचिष्ठ दीदिवः सुम्नाय नूनमीमहे सखिभ्यः ॥
أنتَ—الأشدُّ توهّجًا، الدائمُ الإشراق—نلتمسُك الآن من أجل النعمة والسعادة القويمة، لأجل رفاقِنا في العمل المقدّس.
