ఈ సంక్షిప్త గాయత్రీ-శైలి సూక్తం సోమపీడన సమయంలో ఇంద్రుని ఆహ్వానిస్తుంది—ఆయన తన హరిత (తామ్రవర్ణ) అశ్వాలతో వచ్చి, యజ్ఞంలో ప్రకాశించే రథంపై ఆసనం గ్రహించమని కోరుతుంది. తరువాత ఇంద్రుని స్వర్గం–పృథివి ధారకుడిగా, సమృద్ధమైన పోషణను స్థాపించువాడిగా స్తుతిస్తుంది; చివరికి, విజయకార్యానికి వజ్రాన్ని ధరించి తన్ను సిద్ధం చేసుకునే హరిత వృషభుడిగా ఇంద్రుని రూపకం పరాకాష్ఠకు చేరుతుంది.

अयं ते अस्तु हर्यतः सोम आ हरिभिः सुतः । जुषाण इन्द्र हरिभिर्न आ गह्या तिष्ठ हरितं रथम् ॥
ఇది నీకే—హర్యత (హరిత-దీప్తి గల) సోమము; హరిభిః (హరి-శక్తులు/హరి-అశ్వాలు)తో పిండబడినది. హే ఇంద్రా, దీనిని స్వీకరించి నీ హరి-బలాలతో మా వద్దకు రా; మా యజ్ఞక్షేత్రంలోకి వచ్చి హరిత-సువర్ణ రథంపై స్థిరపడు।

हर्यन्नुषसमर्चयः सूर्यं हर्यन्नरोचयः । विद्वाँश्चिकित्वान्हर्यश्व वर्धस इन्द्र विश्वा अभि श्रियः ॥
హర్యన్ (హరిత-తేజస్సు)తో నీవు ఉషస్సును స్తుతిస్తావు; హర్యన్తోనే నీవు సూర్యుణ్ని ప్రకాశింపజేస్తావు. హే హర్యశ్వ ఇంద్రా, విద్యావంతుడై చికిత్వాన్ (వివేకి)గా ఉండి, నీవు విశ్వా శ్రియః—సర్వ దీప్తిమయ సంపదలు/సిద్ధులు—వైపు వర్ధిల్లుతావు।

द्यामिन्द्रो हरिधायसं पृथिवीं हरिवर्पसम् । अधारयद्धरितोर्भूरि भोजनं ययोरन्तर्हरिश्चरत् ॥
ఇంద్రుడు ద్యావును హరిధాయస (హరిత-దీప్తి యుక్తం)గా, పృథివిని హరివర్పస (హరిత-రూపసమృద్ధం)గా ధారించాడు. ఆపై ఆ రెండు హరిత శక్తులకు విస్తారమైన భోజనం/పోషణాన్ని స్థాపించాడు—వాటి మధ్య హరిశ్ (దీప్త శక్తి) సంచరిస్తూ కార్యం చేస్తుంది।

जज्ञानो हरितो वृषा विश्वमा भाति रोचनम् । हर्यश्वो हरितं धत्त आयुधमा वज्रं बाह्वोर्हरिम् ॥
హరిత శక్తుల వృషభుడిగా జన్మించినవాడు; సమస్త రోచన (దీప్తిమయ) జగత్తు ప్రకాశిస్తుంది. హర్యశ్వ ఇంద్రుడు హరిత ఆయుధాన్ని ధరిస్తాడు; విజయకార్యార్థం వజ్రం—దీప్త తేజస్సు—తన భుజాలపై స్థాపిస్తాడు.
