Agni
अयं लघ्वग्निसूक्तः स्वाश्रयप्रार्थनारूपः। उपासकः पुनःपुनरग्निं “स्वजनम्” इव आह्वयन् तस्य विशालरक्षणशक्तौ शरणं याचते। अग्निः स्तूयते यत् सः शत्रून् कृपणान् च पथाद् विवृणोति, न कदाचन नास्तिकैः सह पक्षं गृह्णाति, तथा च स एव पुरोगामी ज्योतिः येन मर्त्याः प्रेरिताः सन्तो दिवि—उच्चचेतनायाः क्षेत्रे—वर्धन्ते।

पुरु त्वा दाश्वान्वोचेऽरिरग्ने तव स्विदा । तोदस्येव शरण आ महस्य ॥
पुरु त्वा दाश्वान् वोचेऽरिरग्ने तव स्विदा। तोदस्येव शरणं महस्य ते महिम्नः शरणमागच्छामि।

व्यनिनस्य धनिनः प्रहोषे चिदररुषः । कदा चन प्रजिगतो अदेवयोः ॥
त्वं कृपणं च शत्रुं धनिनं च व्यपनिनस्य; तेषां प्रहोषेऽपि त्वं प्रतिदहसि। कदाचन त्वं न प्रजिगतोऽदेवयोः—यौ देवकर्म न प्रतिजानाते।

स चन्द्रो विप्र मर्त्यो महो व्राधन्तमो दिवि । प्रप्रेत्ते अग्ने वनुषः स्याम ॥
स चन्द्रो विप्रो मर्त्यो दिवि महो व्राधन्तमो भवतु। अग्ने, त्वया नित्यं प्रप्रेत्ताः स्याम; वयम् वनुषः—देवकर्मणि प्रयतमानाः।
