ഈ മൂന്ന് മന്ത്രങ്ങളുള്ള ചെറുസൂക്തം സംരക്ഷണ–ചികിത്സാ മന്ത്രചാരമായി അഗ്നിയെ ക്ഷത്രഭൃത് (രാജാധികാരപരമായ സംരക്ഷണം വഹിക്കുന്നവൻ) ആയി പ്രജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. അഗ്നി ഗൃഹത്തെ ചുറ്റി സംരക്ഷണവലം തീർക്കട്ടെ, രോഗത്തെ വിട്ടയക്കട്ടെ, ജീവാധാരമായ ഗയയും സമ്പത്തും കാക്കട്ടെ എന്നതാണ് പ്രാർത്ഥന. തുടർന്ന് സൂക്തം ഇന്ദ്രന്റെ ക്ഷത്രവും ഓജസ്സും ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്ത് വൈരശക്തികളെ അകറ്റി, വിശാലവും സുരക്ഷിതവുമായ ഇടം വെട്ടിത്തുറക്കാൻ അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അവസാനം ശത്രുക്കളെ കടുത്ത രീതിയിൽ പുറത്താക്കുന്ന ദൃശ്യാത്മകമായ നിഷ്കാസനത്തോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. അഗ്നിയുടെ ശുദ്ധീകരണപരിധിയും ഇന്ദ്രന്റെ യുദ്ധപരമായ ശുദ്ധീകരണവും ചേർന്ന് രോഗവും ഭീഷണിയും ഇല്ലാത്ത സംരക്ഷിത ഗൃഹമണ്ഡലം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നു.

क्षत्रभृदग्निः। अ॒ना॒धृ॒ष्यो जा॒तवे॑दा॒ अम॑र्त्यो वि॒राड॑ग्ने क्षत्र॒भृद् दी॑दिही॒ह। विश्वा॒ अमी॑वाः प्रमु॒ञ्चन् मानु॑षीभिः शि॒वाभि॑र॒द्य परि॑ पाहि नो॒ गय॑म्
അഗ്നി ക്ഷത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നവൻ. അനാധൃഷ്യനായ ജാതവേദാ, അമർത്ത്യൻ, വിരാട്—ഹേ അഗ്നേ, ക്ഷത്രഭൃത്, ഇവിടെ ജ്വലിക്ക. മാനുഷമായ ശിവോപായങ്ങളാൽ എല്ലാ അമീവകളെയും അഴിച്ചുവിട്ട്, ഇന്ന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഗൃഹവും സമ്പത്തും ചുറ്റും കാത്തുരക്ഷിക്കണമേ.

ഹേ ഇന്ദ്രാ, വാഞ്ചിതമായ ക്ഷത്രത്തിനും ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ ഓജസ്സിനുമായി നീ ജനിച്ചു—ഹേ ജനങ്ങളുടെ വൃഷഭാ. ശത്രുത്വമുള്ള ജനത്തെ അകറ്റി, ദേവന്മാർക്കായി വിശാലവും സുരക്ഷിതവുമായ ലോകം നീ ഒരുക്കി.

ഭയങ്കര മൃഗത്തെപ്പോലെ—അലയുന്നവൻ, പർവതവാസി—ദൂരത്തിൽ നിന്ന്, അതിദൂരമായ പാരാവതയുടെ അപ്പുറത്തുനിന്ന് ഇവിടേക്ക് വരട്ടെ. താടിയെ ഉരച്ച്, ഹേ ഇന്ദ്ര, തീക്ഷ്ണമായ പവിക്ക് മൂർച്ച കൂട്ടി, ശത്രുക്കളെ പിളർത്തി പ്രഹരിക്ക; മൃഗംപോലെ അവരെ ഓടിച്ച് അകറ്റുക.
