Dharāṇī-Varāha-saṃvāda-phalaśruti-varṇanam
Phalaśruti (Recitation-Merit) and Tīrtha-Comparative Praise
This adhyāya functions as a formal phalaśruti framing the Dharāṇī–Varāha saṃvāda as a pedagogical discourse whose hearing, recitation, and preservation yields ethical purification and social welfare. In the narrative relay, Sanatkumāra reports that Brahmā (Parameṣṭhin/Prajāpati) has already resolved the inquiry and delegates remaining exposition to Pulastya, emphasizing that the dialogue’s distilled “sāra” is meant for continual listening by properly disciplined social groups. The text presents the saṃvāda as auspicious, dharma–kāma–artha-sādhaka, and as a means to remove moral taint (pāpa) while promoting prosperity and longevity. It compares the merit of hearing/reciting to major sacrifices, gifts, and tīrtha-ablutions, and links textual stewardship (writing, housing, honoring the manuscript) with sustained divine favor—implicitly positioning reverence for Earth (Dharāṇī) and her protection as a civilizational ethic embedded in the Varāha-centered narrative.
Verse 1
Verse 2
Verse 3
Verse 4
Verse 5
Verse 6
Verse 7
Verse 8

Verse 10
Verse 11
Verse 12

Verse 15
Verse 16
Verse 17

Verse 21

Sanatkumāra, in the relay of transmission, reports that Brahmā (Parameṣṭhin/Prajāpati) has already settled the inquiry and appoints Pulastya to complete the exposition, thereby framing the Dharāṇī–Varāha saṃvāda as an authorized, lineage-secured teaching meant for disciplined hearers.
A formal phalaśruti extols the ‘sāra’ of the Dharāṇī–Varāha dialogue: continuous śravaṇa–kīrtana–pārāyaṇa and respectful custody of the text are declared dharma–kāma–artha-sādhaka, pāpa-kṣaya-producing, and jagat-hitakara (world-benefiting).
Merit is amplified through comparisons: hearing/reciting equals or surpasses major yajñas, dānas, and tīrtha-snānas; additionally, writing the text, housing it in one’s home, and honoring it (śāstra-pūjā) are presented as enduring sources of auspiciousness, prosperity, and longevity.
The chapter closes by consolidating the promise that faithful hearing, recitation, and manuscript-reverence of the Dharāṇī–Varāha discourse remove moral taint, secure well-being and social order, and maintain sustained divine favor—implicitly grounding an Earth-revering civilizational ethic in Varāha-centered teaching.
Prabhāsa; Naimiṣāraṇya; Gaṅgādvāra (Haridvāra); Puṣkara; Prayāga; Brahmatīrtha; Amarakaṇṭaka.
The chapter frames the Dharāṇī–Varāha dialogue as a normative instructional text: sustained hearing/recitation and respectful preservation of the teaching are presented as practices that cultivate moral purification (pāpa-kṣaya), social auspiciousness, and ordered life-goals (dharma–kāma–artha). It also advances an implicit Earth-centered ethic by treating the Dharāṇī-related discourse as a civilizational ‘sāra’ worthy of continual study and protection.
No explicit tithi, nakṣatra, month (māsa), or seasonal (ṛtu) markers are given. The recommended practice is framed as continuous (satataṃ; nairantaryeṇa) rather than tied to a calendrical observance.
Direct ecological prescriptions are not detailed here; instead, the chapter elevates the Dharāṇī–Varāha saṃvāda as a foundational teaching whose continual transmission benefits the world (jagat-hitāya). By sacralizing the Earth-centered dialogue and linking it to collective welfare, the text indirectly supports an ethic of terrestrial respect and preservation through cultural memory and disciplined practice.
The narrative references major Purāṇic authorities and transmitters—Brahmā (Parameṣṭhin/Prajāpati), Sanatkumāra, Pulastya, and Sūta—functioning as a lineage of instruction and authentication. A royal figure (nṛpa/rājya context) is also invoked in relation to patronage and honoring the tradition, but no specific dynasty is named.
