Sukta 2.28
मा नो वधैर्वरुण ये त इष्टावेनः कृण्वन्तमसुर भ्रीणन्ति । मा ज्योतिषः प्रवसथानि गन्म वि षू मृधः शिश्रथो जीवसे नः ॥
mā́ no vadháir varuṇa yé ta iṣṭā́v énaḥ kṛṇvántam asura bhrīṇánti | mā́ jyótiṣaḥ pra-vasáthāni ganma ví ṣū́ mṛ́dhaḥ śiśratho jīváse naḥ ||
โอ วรุณะ ขออย่าทรงฟาดฟันเราด้วยความตายทั้งหลาย เมื่อผู้คนผู้รับใช้พระองค์กล่าวโทษผู้กระทำว่าเป็นผู้มีความผิด โอ อสุระ ขออย่าให้เราต้องไปสู่ที่พำนักอันไกลโพ้นซึ่งห่างจากแสงสว่าง โปรดคลายอำนาจศัตรูทั้งสิ้น เพื่อให้เรามีชีวิตอยู่เถิด
