Skanda
ஸ்கந்த உபநிஷத் அதர்வவேதத்துடன் தொடர்புடைய ஒரு சைவ உபநிஷத். இதில் ஸ்கந்தன்/குமாரன்/குகன் (கார்த்திகேயன்) வழியாக ஆத்மதத்துவம் எடுத்துரைக்கப்படுகிறது. இதன் மையம் வேதாந்தப் பொருள்: மோட்சம் கர்மச் சேர்க்கையால் அல்ல; ஆத்மா மற்றும் பரம் (சிவ/பிரம்மம்) ஒன்றே என்ற அறிவால். அவித்யை பந்தத்தின் மூலமாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது; விவேக-ஞானம் விடுதலைக்கான கருவி. ஸ்கந்தனின் ‘வேல்’ அறியாமையைத் துளைக்கும் ஞானத்தின் சின்னம்; மயில் ஆசை-வெறுப்பு போன்ற விகாரங்களை வென்ற நிலையைச் சுட்டுகிறது. பக்தி-உபாசனை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டாலும், அதன் உச்சம் அத்வைத அனுபவம்—உபாசகர், உபாச்யம், உபாசனை ஆகியவை பரமார்த்தத்தில் ஒன்றே—என்பதாகும்.
