ବସିଷ୍ଠଙ୍କ ଏହି ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ସୂକ୍ତରେ ଆଦିତ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ—ବିଶେଷକରି ମିତ୍ର ଓ ବରୁଣଙ୍କୁ—ସ୍ଥିରତା, ସୁରକ୍ଷା, ବଂଶପରମ୍ପରାର ରକ୍ଷା, ଏବଂ ବଂଶାନୁଗତ କିମ୍ବା ବାହ୍ୟ କାରଣରୁ ଆସୁଥିବା ଦୋଷ/ଅପରାଧବୋଧରୁ ମୁକ୍ତି ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଇଛି। ଉପାସକମାନେ ଦ୍ୟାବା-ପୃଥିବୀ (ଆକାଶ ଓ ପୃଥିବୀ) ପରି ‘ଆଧାର-ସଦୃଶ’ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ ବୋଲି ଏହା ଅନୁରୋଧ କରେ, ଏବଂ ଶେଷରେ ଅଙ୍ଗିରସମାନେ ସବିତୃଙ୍କ ଧନ ଲାଭ କରୁଥିବା ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ଦେଖାଯାଏ—ସମସ୍ତ ଦେବତା ଯଜ୍ଞକର୍ତ୍ତାକୁ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ଦେବାକୁ ସମ୍ମତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।

Mantra 1
आदित्यासो अदितयः स्याम पूर्देवत्रा वसवो मर्त्यत्रा । सनेम मित्रावरुणा सनन्तो भवेम द्यावापृथिवी भवन्तः ॥
ଆମେ ଆଦିତ୍ୟ ହେଉ—ଅଦିତିଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ରମାନେ; ଦେବମାର୍ଗରେ ଦୃଢ଼ ଆଧାର ହେଉ, ମର୍ତ୍ୟମାର୍ଗରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତେଣୁହିଁ। ହେ ମିତ୍ର-ବରୁଣ, ଜୟୀ ଏବଂ ସଦା ଜୟୀ, ଆମେ ଜୟ ଲାଭ କରୁ; ଦ୍ୟାବା-ପୃଥିବୀ ପରି ସ୍ଥିର ଆଧାର ହୋଇ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟର ପାୟା ହେଉ।

मित्रस्तन्नो वरुणो मामहन्त शर्म तोकाय तनयाय गोपाः । मा वो भुजेमान्यजातमेनो मा तत्कर्म वसवो यच्चयध्वे ॥
ମିତ୍ର ଓ ବରୁଣ ଆମ ପାଇଁ ମହା ଆଶ୍ରୟ ବଢ଼ାନ୍ତୁ—ଆମ ଶିଶୁ ଓ ସନ୍ତାନର ରକ୍ଷକ ହୋଇ। ଅନ୍ୟଜନ୍ୟ ପାପ ପାଇଁ ଆମେ ଭୋଗ ନ କରୁ; ଏବଂ ହେ ବସୁମାନେ, ତୁମେ ଯେ କର୍ମକୁ (ଫଳରୂପେ) ସଞ୍ଚୟ କରି ବାନ୍ଧି ରଖ, ସେହି କର୍ମ ଆମ ଉପରେ ବାନ୍ଧି ନ ଦିଅ।

तुरण्यवोऽङ्गिरसो नक्षन्त रत्नं देवस्य सवितुरियानाः । पिता च तन्नो महान्यजत्रो विश्वे देवाः समनसो जुषन्त ॥
ତ୍ୱରିତଗାମୀ ଅଙ୍ଗିରସମାନେ, ଦେବ ସବିତୃଙ୍କ ପଥରେ ଯାତ୍ରା କରି, ରତ୍ନ (ନିଧି)କୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କରନ୍ତି। ଯଜ୍ଞଯୋଗ୍ୟ ମହାନ ପିତା ସେହିଟି ଆମକୁ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ; ଏକମନ ହୋଇ ସମସ୍ତ ଦେବତା ଆମ ଭିତରେ ତାହାରେ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରନ୍ତୁ।
