प्र स मित्र मर्तो अस्तु प्रयस्वान्यस्त आदित्य शिक्षति व्रतेन । न हन्यते न जीयते त्वोतो नैनमंहो अश्नोत्यन्तितो न दूरात् ॥
prá sá mitrá márto astu práyasvān yás ta āditya śíkṣati vraténa | ná hanyate ná jīyate tvā́ūtaḥ náinam áṃho aśnoty ántito ná dūrā́t ||
മിത്രനോടൊപ്പം മുന്നേറുന്ന മർത്ത്യൻ ആകട്ടെ—യുക്തമായ അർപ്പണത്തിൽ സമൃദ്ധനായവൻ—ഹേ ആദിത്യ, നിന്റെ വ്രതംകൊണ്ട് പഠിച്ചു ശിക്ഷിതനാകുന്നവൻ. അവൻ വധിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല, ജയിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല; നിന്റെ കാവലിൽ അവനെ ദുഃഖം സ്പർശിക്കുകയില്ല—അടുത്തുനിന്നും അല്ല, ദൂരത്തുനിന്നും അല്ല.
