Soma Pavamāna (with Aditi as supporting cosmic principle)
આ ટૂંકું પાવમાન સોમસૂક્ત પવિત્ર પેય સોમનું સ્તવન કરે છે—તે શુદ્ધ થતો જાય છે અને ઋષિપ્રેરિત દર્શનશક્તિ દ્વારા ગતિ પામી આગળ ધપે છે. તેને અદિતિના “અંકમાં” શુદ્ધ થતો બતાવવામાં આવે છે—અદિતિ એટલે અપરિમિત ઋત-વ્યવસ્થા, સર્વવ્યાપી કોસ્મિક ક્રમ. વિવસ્વત્ના સૂર્યતેજથી આવૃત્ત થઈ સોમ આગળ ચલાવવામાં આવે છે; પવિત્ર વાણી (વાચ્)નો અચૂક, અવિફળ અધિપતિ તરીકે તેની પ્રશંસા થાય છે; અને અંતે ઇન્દ્ર માટે નિર્ધારિત ઉલ્લાસ-આનંદમાં તેને પ્રેરિત કરવામાં આવે છે. આ સૂક્તનો હેતુ વિધિપર છે—સોમનું પિષણ અને ગાળણ પવિત્ર કરવું—અને સાથે ચિંતનપર પણ; શુદ્ધિકરણને સત્ય, વાણી અને વિશ્વસમગ્રતા સાથે જોડે છે.

Mantra 1
तममृक्षन्त वाजिनमुपस्थे अदितेरधि । विप्रासो अण्व्या धिया ॥
તેમને—બળની સમૃદ્ધિ લાવનાર વાજિનને—વિપ્રોએ અદિતિના અંકમાં, સૂક્ષ્મ વિવેકમય ધિયા વડે, શુદ્ધ કર્યા છે।

तं गावो अभ्यनूषत सहस्रधारमक्षितम् । इन्दुं धर्तारमा दिवः ॥
તેમને તેજસ્વી ગાયોએ સંમતિમાં રંભાવ્યું—હજાર ધારાવાળા, અક્ષય—ઇન્દુને, દિવ્ય ચેતનાના સ્વર્ગમાંથી આવનાર ધારકને।
Mantra 4
तमह्यन्भुरिजोर्धिया संवसानं विवस्वतः । पतिं वाचो अदाभ्यम् ॥
તેમને તેઓ પ્રચુર દૃષ્ટિવાળી ધિયા વડે આગળ ધપાવે છે—વિવસ્વતના તેજમાં આવૃત—વાણીના અદાભ્ય, અચૂક પતિને।

तं सानावधि जामयो हरिं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः । हर्यतं भूरिचक्षसम् ॥
તેને—શિખર પર—જામયો (બહેનો) અદ્રિભિઃ (પિષાણ-પથ્થરો) વડે હરી (તામ્રવર્ણ)ને હંકારતી આગળ ધપાવે છે; ઇચ્છનીય, બહુદૃષ્ટિ અને વિશાળ દર્શનવાળો.

तं त्वा हिन्वन्ति वेधसः पवमान गिरावृधम् । इन्दविन्द्राय मत्सरम् ॥
હે પવમાન! વેધસઃ (જ્ઞાની કર્મકારો) તને ગિરાવૃધમ્ (સ્તુતિઓથી વધેલો) હંકારતા આગળ ધપાવે છે; હે ઇન્દુ! ઇન્દ્ર માટેના મત્સર (ઉલ્લાસ/મદ)માં તને પ્રવેશાવે છે.
