આ સંક્ષિપ્ત ત્રિષ્ટુભ સૂક્ત ઋતના પ્રથમજ બૃહસ્પતિની સ્તુતિ કરે છે. તે પથ્થરી અવરોધો તોડી નાખે છે, કિલ્લાઓ ધ્વસ્ત કરે છે અને પ્રયત્નશીલ ઉપાસક માટે અવકાશ, જળ, પ્રકાશ અને ગો-સંપત્તિ જીતાડી આપે છે. બંને લોક સુધી પહોંચતી તેની ગર્જના સાથે તેને વિજયી યાજ્ઞિક-પુરોહિત શક્તિ તરીકે રજૂ કરે છે; અને તેની “અર્કા” (પ્રકાશમય સ્તુતિગીતો) પોતે જ વૈરભાવ સામે શસ્ત્ર બની જાય છે એમ કહે છે. આ સૂક્તનો હેતુ—અવરોધભંગ, સંઘર્ષમાં રક્ષણ, અને યોગ્ય આવાહન દ્વારા સમૃદ્ધિ પ્રાપ્ત કરવા માટે બૃહસ્પતિને આવાહન કરવો.

यो अद्रिभित्प्रथमजा ऋतावा बृहस्पतिराङ्गिरसो हविष्मान् । द्विबर्हज्मा प्राघर्मसत्पिता न आ रोदसी वृषभो रोरवीति ॥
જે શિલાઓને ભેદે છે, ઋતનો પ્રથમજાત—અંગિરસ બૃહસ્પતિ, હવિષ્યથી સમૃદ્ધ. દ્વિગુણ મહાવિકાસવાળો, પ્રઘર્મની તેજસ્વી તપ્તતામાં આસનસ્થ—અમારા પિતા—શક્તિશાળી વૃષભ સમે બે લોક (રોદસી) તરફ ગર્જે છે.

जनाय चिद्य ईवत उ लोकं बृहस्पतिर्देवहूतौ चकार । घ्नन्वृत्राणि वि पुरो दर्दरीति जयञ्छत्रूँरमित्रान्पृत्सु साहन् ॥
પ્રયત્નશીલ મનુષ્ય માટે પણ બૃહસ્પતિએ દેવાહૂતિમાં એક લોક રચ્યો. વૃત્રો (અવરોધકો)ને ઘાત કરીને તે કિલ્લાઓને વિખેરી નાખે છે; શત્રુઓને જીતતો, અમિત્રોને પરાજિત કરતો, યુદ્ધોમાં સહનશીલ વિજયી બને છે.

बृहस्पतिः समजयद्वसूनि महो व्रजान्गोमतो देव एषः । अपः सिषासन्त्स्वरप्रतीतो बृहस्पतिर्हन्त्यमित्रमर्कैः ॥
બૃહસ્પતિએ એકસાથે ધનો જીત્યાં—મહાન, ગોમય (ગાયોવાળા) તેજસ્વી વ્રજો; એ દેવ. અપઃ (જળો) અને સ્વર્ (સ્વર્ગીય પ્રકાશ)ની ઇચ્છા ધરાવતો, અપ્રતિહત, બૃહસ્પતિ પોતાના પ્રકાશમય અર્કો (સ્તુતિ-હિમ્નો) વડે શત્રુશક્તિને પ્રહાર કરે છે.
