Sukta 4.2
यस्त इध्मं जभरत्सिष्विदानो मूर्धानं वा ततपते त्वाया । भुवस्तस्य स्वतवाँ: पायुरग्ने विश्वस्मात्सीमघायत उरुष्य ॥
yás ta idhmáṃ jábharat siṣvidānó mūrdhā́naṃ vā tatápate tvāyā́ | bhúvas tásya svátavāṃ pāyúr agne víśvasmāt sīm aghāyátá uruṣya ||
ผู้ใดนำฟืนมาถวายท่านด้วยใจเร่งเร้าให้ลุกไหม้ หรือแม้เผาศีรษะของตนเพื่อท่านด้วยความร้อนแห่งตบะ (tapas) — สำหรับผู้นั้น โอ อัคนี ท่านจักเป็นผู้พิทักษ์ผู้มีกำลังในตนเอง; จากผู้มุ่งร้ายทั้งปวง จากความเป็นศัตรูทั้งสิ้น ขอทรงแผ่ทางให้กว้างและคุ้มครองเขาเถิด.
