RV 10.63 is a late, expansive invocation to the Viśve Devāḥ that anchors present worship in the lineage of primordial and royal-sacrificial exemplars—Vivasvat, Manu, Yayāti, and Nahusha. The hymn gathers many deities (Indra, Agni, Mitra-Varuṇa, Bhaga, Dyāvāpṛthivī, Maruts, and the Ādityas) to secure protection in conflict, success in acquisition, and a right, inspired praise that keeps the sacrificer aligned with ṛta.
Mantra 1
परावतो ये दिधिषन्त आप्यं मनुप्रीतासो जनिमा विवस्वतः । ययातेर्ये नहुष्यस्य बर्हिषि देवा आसते ते अधि ब्रुवन्तु नः ॥
May those gods who from afar establish the intimate waters of being, who delight in Manu, the offspring of Vivasvat; who sit upon the sacred seat in the rite of Yayāti, of Nahusha—may they speak to us from above, guiding our understanding.
Mantra 2
विश्वा हि वो नमस्यानि वन्द्या नामानि देवा उत यज्ञियानि वः । ये स्थ जाता अदितेरद्भ्यस्परि ये पृथिव्यास्ते म इह श्रुता हवम् ॥
All your acts are worthy of our bowing, O gods, and your names are to be praised, and your powers are fit for sacrifice. You who are born of Aditi, from the waters, you who belong to the earth—hear here my call.
Mantra 3
येभ्यो माता मधुमत्पिन्वते पयः पीयूषं द्यौरदितिरद्रिबर्हाः । उक्थशुष्मान्वृषभरान्त्स्वप्नसस्ताँ आदित्याँ अनु मदा स्वस्तये ॥
Follow in delight those Ādityas for whom the Mother pours the honeyed milk, the very pīyūṣa of immortality—Heaven and Aditi, pressing down the rock of obstruction. Mighty with the force of the inspired utterance, bearing the virile power, lords of luminous vision: with them may we move for our well-being.
Mantra 4
नृचक्षसो अनिमिषन्तो अर्हणा बृहद्देवासो अमृतत्वमानशुः । ज्योतीरथा अहिमाया अनागसो दिवो वर्ष्माणं वसते स्वस्तये ॥
The gods with the seeing of the soul, unblinking, worthy of adoration, have attained immortality in the Vast. Riding on chariots of light, free from the serpent’s illusion, without fault, they clothe themselves in the high expanse of Heaven for our well-being.
Mantra 5
सम्राजो ये सुवृधो यज्ञमाययुरपरिह्वृता दधिरे दिवि क्षयम् । ताँ आ विवास नमसा सुवृक्तिभिर्महो आदित्याँ अदितिं स्वस्तये ॥
Those sovereign powers, well-increasing, who have come to the sacrifice and, unobstructed, have established their dwelling in Heaven—those great Ādityas and Aditi I serve with obeisance and with well-shaped words, for our well-being.
Mantra 6
को वः स्तोमं राधति यं जुजोषथ विश्वे देवासो मनुषो यति ष्ठन । को वोऽध्वरं तुविजाता अरं करद्यो नः पर्षदत्यंहः स्वस्तये ॥
Who will accomplish for you the hymn you accept, O all gods, as you take your stand in the human seeker? Who will rightly set in motion your sacrifice, O widely-born powers—he who will carry us beyond distress, for our well-being?
Mantra 7
येभ्यो होत्रां प्रथमामायेजे मनुः समिद्धाग्निर्मनसा सप्त होतृभिः । त आदित्या अभयं शर्म यच्छत सुगा नः कर्त सुपथा स्वस्तये ॥
To whom Manu first offered the oblation-priesthood—kindling Agni with the mind, with the seven priests—those Ādityas, grant us fearless peace; make for us good goings and a fair path, for our well-being.
Mantra 8
य ईशिरे भुवनस्य प्रचेतसो विश्वस्य स्थातुर्जगतश्च मन्तवः । ते नः कृतादकृतादेनसस्पर्यद्या देवासः पिपृता स्वस्तये ॥
You who rule the world by awakened consciousness, who are thinkers of all that stands and moves—do you, O gods, guard us today all around from sin, from what we have done and what we have not done, for our well-being.
Mantra 9
भरेष्विन्द्रं सुहवं हवामहेंऽहोमुचं सुकृतं दैव्यं जनम् । अग्निं मित्रं वरुणं सातये भगं द्यावापृथिवी मरुतः स्वस्तये ॥
In the battles we call Indra, easy to invoke, the releaser from distress, the well-doing divine people. We call Agni, Mitra, Varuṇa for the winning, Bhaga, Heaven-and-Earth, and the Maruts—for our well-being.
Mantra 10
सुत्रामाणं पृथिवीं द्यामनेहसं सुशर्माणमदितिं सुप्रणीतिम् । दैवीं नावं स्वरित्रामनागसमस्रवन्तीमा रुहेमा स्वस्तये ॥
Earth the good-protectress, Heaven without violence, Aditi of good shelter and right leading—upon that divine boat with good oars, faultless and not leaking, may we embark and ascend for our well-being.
Mantra 11
विश्वे यजत्रा अधि वोचतोतये त्रायध्वं नो दुरेवाया अभिह्रुतः । सत्यया वो देवहूत्या हुवेम शृण्वतो देवा अवसे स्वस्तये ॥
O all you adorable gods, speak forth for our help; protect us from ill-going and from being struck down. With a true call of the gods we invoke you—hear, O gods, for our aid, for our well-being.
Mantra 12
अपामीवामप विश्वामनाहुतिमपारातिं दुर्विदत्रामघायतः । आरे देवा द्वेषो अस्मद्युयोतनोरु णः शर्म यच्छता स्वस्तये ॥
Drive away sickness; drive away every uninvoked harm; drive away misfortune hard to dispel, sent by the ill-wisher. Far from us, O gods, cast away hatred; grant us wide peace and shelter, for our well-being.
Mantra 13
अरिष्टः स मर्तो विश्व एधते प्र प्रजाभिर्जायते धर्मणस्परि । यमादित्यासो नयथा सुनीतिभिरति विश्वानि दुरिता स्वस्तये ॥
Unharmed, that mortal grows in his whole being; he is born forth and forward with the powers of his offspring and inner formations, encompassed by the Law. Him, O Ādityas, lead by your right guidances beyond all crookedness and distress, into the state of well-being.
Mantra 14
यं देवासोऽवथ वाजसातौ यं शूरसाता मरुतो हिते धने । प्रातर्यावाणं रथमिन्द्र सानसिमरिष्यन्तमा रुहेमा स्वस्तये ॥
He whom the gods foster in the winning of plenitude, he whom the Maruts aid in the gaining of heroic force for the cherished treasure—upon the dawn-going chariot, O Indra, the chariot of attainment, unharmable, may we ascend for our safe arriving.
Mantra 15
स्वस्ति नः पथ्यासु धन्वसु स्वस्त्यप्सु वृजने स्वर्वति । स्वस्ति नः पुत्रकृथेषु योनिषु स्वस्ति राये मरुतो दधातन ॥
Well-being for us on the paths and in the difficult wide spaces; well-being in the waters and in the pressing struggle where the light is to be won. Well-being for us in the wombs that fashion the child—new becomings; well-being for our rayi, O Maruts: establish it within us.
Mantra 16
स्वस्तिरिद्धि प्रपथे श्रेष्ठा रेक्णस्वत्यभि या वाममेति । सा नो अमा सो अरणे नि पातु स्वावेशा भवतु देवगोपा ॥
For well-being indeed is best upon the forward path, rich in plenitude, moving toward the desirable good. May she protect us here and in the far places, may she guard us in the wilderness; may she become for us an easy dwelling, guarded by the gods.
Mantra 17
एवा प्लतेः सूनुरवीवृधद्वो विश्व आदित्या अदिते मनीषी । ईशानासो नरो अमर्त्येनास्तावि जनो दिव्यो गयेन ॥
Thus has the son of Plati increased you, O all Ādityas, O Aditi, by his thought. O lords, O divine men, with the immortal (breath of inspiration) the luminous people has praised you with song.
They are the ‘All-Gods’ invoked as a single divine assembly. The hymn treats many deities as coordinated powers who attend the sacrifice and protect the worshippers.
These names connect the present ritual to revered ancestral and primordial models of right worship and kingship. By recalling them, the poet asks the gods to support today’s community with the same sanctioned order and success.
It asks for help in struggles (including battle or competition), release from distress, and overall well-being (svasti). It also seeks right guidance and inspired speech so the community stays aligned with ṛta.
