Sukta 3.31
न जामये तान्वो रिक्थमारैक्चकार गर्भं सनितुर्निधानम् । यदी मातरो जनयन्त वह्निमन्यः कर्ता सुकृतोरन्य ऋन्धन् ॥
ná jāmáye tā́nvo rিকthám āraik cakā́ra gárbhaṃ sanitúr nidhā́nam | yadī́ mā́taro janáyanta váhnim anyáḥ kartā́ sukŕtōr anyá ṛ́ndhan ||
അവൻ ജമയേ (ബന്ധു/കുടുംബാംഗം)ക്കായി ദേഹത്തെ റിക്ഥ (വാരസ്യം) ആയി വിട്ടില്ല; സനിതു (വിജയം/ലാഭം)യുടെ നിധാനം (മറഞ്ഞ നിക്ഷേപം) ആയി ഗർഭത്തെ നിർമ്മിച്ചു. മാതാക്കൾ വഹ്നി (അഗ്നി)യെ ജനിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഒരാൾ സുകൃത (സത്കർമ്മ)ത്തിന്റെ കർത്താവാകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരാൾ അതിനെ പ്രജ്വലിപ്പിച്ച് വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ (ഋന്ധൻ) ആകുന്നു.
