Sukta 5.38
Indra
Gayatri (probable for RV 5.38; requires metrical verification)

Indra’s abundance is proclaimed as vast and his giving as all-pervading; the worshippers ask him to increase their luminous strengths (dyumnā).
Indra’s specific powers (śuṣma) are recalled—force that pours forth and acts by conscious sign—by which divine rule supports devotees across heaven and the moving earth-field.
The hymn turns from praise to direct reliance: Indra’s succouring helps (abhiṣṭi) and shelter (śarman) are invoked as the decisive protection.
It closes with an emphatic prayer to be "sugopāḥ"—well-guarded—resting securely in Indra’s heroic protection.

It asks Indra to expand the worshippers’ prosperity and “dyumna” (luminous strength), and to keep them safely protected in his shelter (śarman).
Śatakratu means “of a hundred powers/acts,” praising Indra as capable of many decisive deeds—especially granting gifts, victory, and protection.
It means “may we be well-guarded,” a direct prayer to live securely under Indra’s protecting care.
