Sukta 1.69
जने न शेव आहूर्यः सन्मध्ये निषत्तो रण्वो दुरोणे ॥
jáne ná śéva āhū́ryaḥ sán mádhye níṣatto raṇvó duroṇé |
人々の中にあって慈しき友のごとく、呼ぶにふさわしき者として称えられる。彼は中央に坐す——内なる住処において、喜ばしき者として。
Agni as the invited guest seated at the center of the ritual space; psychologically, establishing the invocable flame at the heart-center of consciousness.
indwelling divine friend, centrality of the psychic fire, joy as confirmation (raṇva)
Agni seated in the center symbolizes the ordering principle that aligns the many ‘people’ (parts) into right rhythm.
Truth becomes intimate when it is lived as an inner presence, not an external idea.
Indwelling divinity: the cosmic fire takes residence in the human dwelling to evolve nature from within.
Inner yajña as psychological integration (Aurobindo’s ‘psychic being’ emphasis).
House = body-mind as temple; central hearth = heart; friendly fire = warmth of conscious presence.
Shift attention to the heart-center; feel Agni as a friendly witness-flame seated calmly in the middle of the chest.
Anāhata
4–4 breathing (inhale 4, exhale 4) while repeating the mantra mentally; let the exhale be the ‘call’ (āhūryaḥ).
Centered ease; inward friendliness; quiet joy.
Relate to the Divine not as judge but as companion; when thoughts scatter, return to ‘madhye’—the center—and re-seat the flame.
Rigvedic svara per śākala; keep the cadence centered, avoiding dramatic pitch swings.
Slightly dwell on ‘madhye’ and ‘niṣatto’ to embody settling; keep ‘raṇvo’ bright and open.
Pronounce ‘śeva’ with palatal ‘ś’ (not dental s), ‘āhūryaḥ’: keep long ‘ā’ and ‘ū’ distinct, ‘duroṇe’: roll the ‘r’ lightly; long ‘o’
Warm, intimate, inward; softer volume encourages ‘seated within’ feeling.
