Frequently Asked Questions

The Ādityas are a group of sovereign deities—especially Mitra, Varuṇa, and Aryaman—known for upholding ṛta (cosmic and moral order) and granting protection and well-being.

Varivas is a Vedic image for openness, freedom, and safe passage in life; aṃhas is the opposite—narrowness, distress, or moral-spiritual burden. The hymn asks the gods to remove aṃhas and grant varivas.

It can be recited as a short protective prayer before a fire offering, at dawn, or at the start of any sacred work—asking for clear guidance (sumati), peace (śarma), and a life aligned with truth (ṛta).
