Inside Sukta 21

How it unfolds

  1. Where it opens

The hymn opens with the soma pressed and presented as a divine, light-winning draught, calling Indra—by nature and birth—to respond and “wake” to the sacrifice and song.

  2. Development

Praise expands Indra’s stature: his will makes him vast, his greatness spreads through the worlds, and his own force accomplishes the archetypal victory over Vṛtra; no foe can measure his battle.

  3. Climax
