This Indra hymn of the Atri tradition asks the god to bring his most “effective resolve” (kratu) as active help, turning it into victorious force for the worshippers in contests and daily struggle. It also petitions Indra to press down hostile, inimical impulses and to guard the singers’ chariot—symbol of their onward movement—so their praise and fame may be established “in heaven,” i.e., in the luminous realm of truth.

Mantra 1
यस्ते साधिष्ठोऽवस इन्द्र क्रतुष्टमा भर । अस्मभ्यं चर्षणीसहं सस्निं वाजेषु दुष्टरम् ॥
हे इन्द्र, वो सबसे बड़ा इरादा हमें दे जो मदद करता है। यह तेरी सबसे पक्की ताकत है। इस्से हमारी भी वो ताकत बन जाए जो दुनिया की हर रुकावत तोड़ दे। जीतने वाली ताकत हो, जिसे कोई पार न कर पाए। तेरा सही फ़ैसला हमारे अंदर ऐसे ही काम करे जैसे जीतने वाली एनर्जी।

यदिन्द्र ते चतस्रो यच्छूर सन्ति तिस्रः । यद्वा पञ्च क्षितीनामवस्तत्सु न आ भर ॥
इन्द्र, तेरी जितनी भी मददें हैं, चार हों या तीन, हे वीर। या दुनिया के लिए पाँच भी हों, वो सब हमें दे दे। तेरी हर तरह की सुरक्षा की ताकत हमारे सफ़र में आए और हमें आगे बढ़ाए।

आ तेऽवो वरेण्यं वृषन्तमस्य हूमहे । वृषजूतिर्हि जज्ञिष आभूभिरिन्द्र तुर्वणिः ॥
हम तेरी मदद माँगते हैं, इन्द्र। वो मदद जो सबसे बेहतर हो, जो सबसे ज़्यादा ताकतवर हो। तू ही तो वो है जो एनर्जी बहा देता है। तेरी बड़ी-बड़ी ताकतों के साथ, इन्द्र, तू जल्दी से सब कुछ पार कर देता है।

वृषा ह्यसि राधसे जज्ञिषे वृष्णि ते शवः । स्वक्षत्रं ते धृषन्मनः सत्राहमिन्द्र पौंस्यम् ॥
तू ताकत का बुल्ला है, प्लेनिट्यूड देने के लिए पैदा हुआ है। तेरी ताकत बड़ी है। तेरा अपना राज पक्का है, तेरा मन हिम्मत वाला है। इन्द्र, तेरी मर्दाना ताकत हमारे अंदर कभी टूटी नहीं, हमेशा चलती रहती है।

त्वं तमिन्द्र मर्त्यममित्रयन्तमद्रिवः । सर्वरथा शतक्रतो नि याहि शवसस्पते ॥
हे इंद्र, तुम उस इंसान पर जाओ जो दुश्मनी कर रहा है। तुम वज्र वाले हो, तुम्हारा काम बहुत है। अपनी ताकत के सारे रथ ले के आओ। उस दुश्मन को नीचे गिरा दो जो हमें तकलीफ दे रहा है।

त्वामिद्वृत्रहन्तम जनासो वृक्तबर्हिषः । उग्रं पूर्वीषु पूर्व्यं हवन्ते वाजसातये ॥
लोग तुम्हे बुलाते हैं, इंद्र, क्योंकि तुम वृत्र को मारते हो। वो घास बिछा के तुम्हारे लिए तैयार बैठे हैं। तुम्हारी पुरानी ताकत बहुत तेज है। वो यह सब इसलिए करते हैं ताकि जीत पाएँ और ताकत मिले।

अस्माकमिन्द्र दुष्टरं पुरोयावानमाजिषु । सयावानं धनेधने वाजयन्तमवा रथम् ॥
इंद्र, हमारे रथ को इतना मज़बूत बना दो कि दुश्मन उसको रोख न सके। यह रथ लड़ाई में आगे चलता है और सब के साथ मिल के चलता है। हर बार जब धन के लिए लड़ाई हो, इस रथ को जीत दिलवाओ और हमें आगे ले जाओ।

अस्माकमिन्द्रेहि नो रथमवा पुरंध्या । वयं शविष्ठ वार्यं दिवि श्रवो दधीमहि दिवि स्तोमं मनामहे ॥
इंद्र, हमारे रथ पर आ जाओ और उसे अपनी ताकत से बचाओ। तुम सबसे ज़ोर वाले हो। हम चाहते हैं कि आसमान में हमारा नाम चमके। वही पे हम अपनी पूजा और स्तुति करते हैं।
