Agni (Jātavedas, Hotṛ)
Triṣṭubh (probable; not fully scanned)
Is mantra mein Agni ko Jatavedas aur Hotr ke roop mein bulaya gaya hai. Yeh kehta hai ki Agni hamari puja ko amar logon ke beech pahuncha de. Isliye yeh kaam sahi tarah se ho aur devta log usse accept karein. Mantra mein ghee se bhari hui aahutiyon ka zikr hai jo Agni ko di jaati hain. Agni sabse pehle baithta hai aur sabse accha rishi ke jaisa jalta hai. Woh hi yagya ka rakshak hai aur sab kuch sahi se arrange karta hai.
Mantra 1

Agni, humari yeh puja ko deviyon ke paas pahuncha de. Yeh sab samagri humne tere liye rakhi hai, ise le le. Tu pehle baith ke ghee ka hissa le. Tu hi hota hai jo yagya ko sahi tarike se chalata hai.

Agni, yeh ghee ki boondein tere liye hain. Tu bada rishi hai, tujhe jalaaya ja raha hai. Tu yagya ko aage badha, ise sahi rakh.
Mantra 4
तुभ्यं श्चोतन्त्यध्रिगो शचीवः स्तोकासो अग्ने मेदसो घृतस्य । कविशस्तो बृहता भानुनागा हव्या जुषस्व मेधिर ॥
Agni, tere liye ghee aur tel ki boondein gir rahi hain. Tu taakatwala hai. Rishi tere gun ga rahe hain. Tu badi roshni le ke aa. Yeh samagri le le aur humari puja ko sahi bana.
Mantra 5
ओजिष्ठं ते मध्यतो मेद उद्भृतं प्र ते वयं ददामहे । श्चोतन्ति ते वसो स्तोका अधि त्वचि प्रति तान्देवशो विहि ॥
Hum tujhe sabse taakatwala cheez de rahe hain. Yeh ghee ki boondein tere upar gir rahi hain. Inhe sahi tarike se le le aur deviyon ke liye baant de.
Agni—praised as Jātavedas (knower of all births) and Hotṛ (the divine priest who receives and carries offerings to the gods).
To accept the ghee-rich offerings first, place the sacrifice “among the immortals,” and protect the ritual so it proceeds in the right order and reaches the devas.
It highlights the central offering to Agni and symbolizes abundance and clarity—fuel for the fire that transforms the offering and conveys it to the divine realm.
