આ સંક્ષિપ્ત ઉત્તર-મંડળનું વિધિપર સ્તોત્ર સોમ પિષણારા ગ્રાવાણઃ (પિષણ-પથ્થરો)ને સંબોધે છે. તેમને પિષણફલકો પર પોતાના સ્થાન પર બેસી સોમરસ પિષી કાઢવા પ્રેરિત કરે છે. દૈવી પ્રેરક સવિતૃદેવને ધર્મે (વિધિસંમત રીતે) આ ઉપકરણોને યોગ્ય, નિયમબદ્ધ ગતિમાં પ્રવર્તાવવા આમંત્રિત કરવામાં આવે છે, જેથી યજમાનનું પિષણ દેવોને—વિશેષ કરીને “બળવાન” (ઘણાં વખત ઇન્દ્ર)—બળ અને ઉલ્લાસ આપે.

प्र वो ग्रावाणः सविता देवः सुवतु धर्मणा । धूर्षु युज्यध्वं सुनुत ॥
હે ગ્રાવાણો (સોમ પીસવાના પથ્થરો), આગળ વધો. દેવ સવિતા—દિવ્ય પ્રેરક—ધર્મના નિયમથી તમને પ્રવૃત્ત કરે. ધૂર્ષુ (પિષણ-આસનો) પર પોતાને જોડો; સોમને પિષો—આનંદરસને નિસ્યંદિત કરો.

ग्रावाणो अप दुच्छुनामप सेधत दुर्मतिम् । उस्राः कर्तन भेषजम् ॥
હે ગ્રાવાણો, દુચ્છુન (અશુભ) શક્તિઓને દૂર હાંકો; દુર્મતિ (વાંકી બુદ્ધિ)ને પણ દૂર કરો. હે ઉસ્રાઃ (પ્રકાશમાનાઓ), ભેષજ (ઔષધ/ઉપચાર)ને કોતરી કાઢો—પિષાયેલા રસમાંથી ઉપાયને પ્રગટ કરો.

ग्रावाण उपरेष्वा महीयन्ते सजोषसः । वृष्णे दधतो वृष्ण्यम् ॥
ઉપરના ફલકો પર રહેલા ગ્રાવાણો એકસાથે મહાન બને છે. તેઓ વृषણ (શક્તિશાળી)માં વೃಷણ્ય (વીર્ય-બળ) સ્થાપે છે—બળમાં બળને સ્થિર કરતાં.

ग्रावाणः सविता नु वो देवः सुवतु धर्मणा । यजमानाय सुन्वते ॥
હે ગ્રાવાણો (સોમ-પેષણના પથ્થરો), હવે દેવ સવિતા તમને ધર્મ પ્રમાણે પ્રેરિત કરે—યજમાન માટે, સોમ પીસતા (સુન્વતે) માટે.
