त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥
Transliteration
tryámbakaṃ yajāmahe sugándhiṃ puṣṭivárdhanam | urvārukám iva bándhanān mṛtyór mukṣīya mā́mṛtāt ||
Translation
われらは三つ目の御方（Tryambaka）を祭り奉る、芳香に満ち、滋養を増し広げる御方を。熟した瓜が蔓から解かれるように、われを死の絆から解き放ち給え——しかれども不死からは離れしめ給うな。
