Departure from Ayodhya; Civic Lament and the Chariot’s Urgency
तं चापि समनुज्ञाप्य धर्मज्ञस्सीतया सह।राघव श्शोकसम्मूढो जननीमभ्यवादयत्।।।।
taṃ cāpi samanujñāpya dharmajñaḥ sītayā saha | rāghavaḥ śoka-sammūḍho jananīm abhyavādayat ||
また彼に暇乞いし、ダルマを知るラाघヴァはシーターと共に、悲しみに打ちひしがれながらも、母に恭しく礼拝した。
Thereafter, Rama and Lakshmana also boarded that chariot decorated with gold and shining like blazing fire.
Even under intense sorrow, Rāma maintains maryādā (proper conduct): he takes formal leave and honors his mother, showing that dharma is upheld through disciplined respect and duty.
As preparations for exile proceed, Rāma departs after taking leave of Daśaratha and then approaches Kauśalyā to offer reverence.
Filial piety and self-control: Rāma’s grief does not break his commitment to respectful, dharmic procedure.
