AV 6.12は、蛇毒を退けるための簡潔なアタルヴァ系の治療呪であり、宇宙の浄化者と聖なる知の全権威を呼び起こして毒害を鎮める。終盤では「甘味(madhu)」によって水と名指された諸河川を和らげ、治癒をさらにシャーンティ(鎮静・安寧)へと広げ、口(摂取/言語)と心(生命・情動の中枢)の福祉を祈る。賛歌の力は、毒を患者から切り離すこと(太陽の遍満する清浄のように)と、蜜のように吉祥な水によって調和を回復することにある。
Mantra 1
सर्प-विष-निवारणम्। परि॒ द्यामि॑व॒ सूर्योऽही॑नां॒ जनि॑मागमम्। रात्री॒ जग॑दिवा॒न्यद्धं॒सात् तेना॑ ते वारये वि॒षम्
(蛇毒の鎮め。)太陽が天をめぐり包むように、わたしは蛇どもの生起のところへ到った。さらに、夜においてハṃサ(Haṁsa、白鳥/霊鳥)がほかの動く世界を隔て分かつように、その同じ力によって、汝から毒を退け、遮り止める。

यद् ब्र॒ह्मभि॒र्यदृषि॑भि॒र्यद् दे॒वैर्वि॑दि॒तं पु॒रा। यद् भू॒तं भव्य॑मास॒न्वत् तेना॑ ते वारये वि॒षम्
ブラーフマンたちにより、リシたちにより、神々により、古より知られてきたもの;すでにあるもの、これからあるもの、確立された事としてあるもの——それによって、汝から毒を退け、遮り止める。

मध्वा॑ पृञ्चे न॒द्यः॑१ पर्व॑ता गि॒रयो॒ मधु॑ । मधु॒ परु॑ष्णी॒ शीपा॑ला॒ शमा॒स्ने अ॑स्तु॒ शं हृ॒दे
われは蜜の甘さをもって川々にふりそそぐ。山々、丘々——すべてが蜜である。パルシュニー(Paruṣṇī)は蜜、シーパ―ラー(Śīpālā)も蜜。口に吉祥あれ、心に吉祥あれ。
