Sukta 12
सर्प-विष-निवारणम्। परि द्यामिव सूर्योऽहीनां जनिमागमम्। रात्री जगदिवान्यद्धंसात् तेना ते वारये विषम्
pári dyā́m iva sū́ryo ’hī́nāṁ jánim ā́gamam | rā́trīr jágad ivā́nyad haṁsā́t ténā te vārayé víṣam ||
As the Sun encompasseth the heaven, so have I come upon the serpents’ birth. As from the Haṁsa the other moving world (is kept apart), by that same power I ward from thee the poison.
(蛇毒の鎮め。)太陽が天をめぐり包むように、わたしは蛇どもの生起のところへ到った。さらに、夜においてハṃサ(Haṁsa、白鳥/霊鳥)がほかの動く世界を隔て分かつように、その同じ力によって、汝から毒を退け、遮り止める。
