Soma Pavamāna
This short Pavamāna hymn praises Soma as he rushes through the filter in powerful streams, becoming clarified and awakening inspired speech (vāc) in the worshippers. It follows the ritual movement of Soma from flowing purification to his “seating” in the vats, culminating in an explicit injunction to press the sweetest Soma for Indra, so the divine host may enter exhilaration and strength.

Mantra 1
प्र धारा अस्य शुष्मिणो वृथा पवित्रे अक्षरन् । पुनानो वाचमिष्यति ॥
इस बलवान के धारें आगे की तरफ बह रही हैं। बिना किसी रोके वो पवित्र छेड़ें से गुज़र रही हैं। जब यह अपने आप को साफ करता है, तब अंदर से सच्ची बात और शक्ति उठती है।

इन्दुर्हियानः सोतृभिर्मृज्यमानः कनिक्रदत् । इयर्ति वग्नुमिन्द्रियम् ॥
इंदु तेज़ी से आगे बढ़ रहा है। जो लोग उसे दबा रहे हैं, वो उसे साफ कर रहे हैं। यह खुशी से चिल्लाता है और अंदर आग जैसी शक्ति और इंद्र का बल जगाता है।

आ नः शुष्मं नृषाह्यं वीरवन्तं पुरुस्पृहम् । पवस्व सोम धारया ॥
हे सोम, अपनी धारा में हमारे पास आ। वो बल लाओ जो दूसरों की हिचका-दिचका हटा सके। बहुत लोग तुम्हारी चाहते हैं, तुम्हारा बल बहुत चाहिए। इससे हम जीत की शक्ति पा सकें।

प्र सोमो अति धारया पवमानो असिष्यदत् । अभि द्रोणान्यासदम् ॥
सोम पानी से आगे निकल रहा है, अपने आप को साफ करते हुए। वो बड़े बर्तन की तरफ जा रहा है जहाँ उसे रखना है। यह वो मीठा रस है जो अंदर जाके खुशी देता है।

अप्सु त्वा मधुमत्तमं हरिं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः । इन्दविन्द्राय पीतये ॥
पानी में सोम को बहुत मेहनत से निचोड़ा जा रहा है। यह रस इतना मीठा है और चमकता है। इंद्र के लिए तैयार हो रहा है ताकि वो पिए और ताकत पाए।

सुनोता मधुमत्तमं सोममिन्द्राय वज्रिणे । चारुं शर्धाय मत्सरम् ॥
सोम को अच्छे से निचोड़ो और इंद्र के लिए तैयार करो। इंद्र अपने हाथ में वज्र पकड़े हैं। यह रस इतना अच्छा है कि सब लोग खुश हो जाते हैं।
