Soma Pavamāna

This short Pavamāna hymn praises Soma as he is purified in the filter, shining with golden light and overcoming all hostility as he flows in the rite. Soma is portrayed as the revealer of hidden treasure, the establisher of vitality through threefold powers, and as the divine chariot whose forward-moving radiance supports Indra’s victorious might in battle.

अया रुचा हरिण्या पुनानो विश्वा द्वेषांसि तरति स्वयुग्वभिः सूरो न स्वयुग्वभिः । धारा सुतस्य रोचते पुनानो अरुषो हरिः । विश्वा यद्रूपा परियात्यृक्वभिः सप्तास्येभिॠक्वभिः ॥
सोने जैसी रोशनी में सोम साफ हो रहा है। अपनी ताकत से वो नफ़रत को पार कर रहा है, जैसे सूरज अपनी किरण से। दबी हुई सोम की धारा चमक रही है, लाल और सोने जैसी। वो रिशियों के साथ घूमता है, सात मुँह वाली शक्ति के साथ।

त्वं त्यत्पणीनां विदो वसु सं मातृभिर्मर्जयसि स्व आ दम ऋतस्य धीतिभिर्दमे । परावतो न साम तद्यत्रा रणन्ति धीतयः । त्रिधातुभिररुषीभिर्वयो दधे रोचमानो वयो दधे ॥
तुम वो ख़ज़ाना ढूँढ लेते हो जो छुपा हुआ था। माँ के साथ उसको अपने घर में साफ करते हो, धरम के घर में। जैसे दूर से कोई गाना सुनाई दे, वैसे वहीं सोच चमकती है। चमक के तुम ज़िन्दगी की ताकत को तीसरी शक्ति से सम्भाल लेते हो।

पूर्वामनु प्रदिशं याति चेकितत्सं रश्मिभिर्यतते दर्शतो रथो दैव्यो दर्शतो रथः । अग्मन्नुक्थानि पौंस्येन्द्रं जैत्राय हर्षयन् । वज्रश्च यद्भवथो अनपच्युता समत्स्वनपच्युता ॥
वो आगे की तरफ जाता है, रास्ता साफ देख के। उसकी किरणों में एक डिवाइन रथ बनता है जो सबको दिखाई देता है। स्त्रोती लोग इंद्र के लिए गाना गाते हैं और उसे जीत के लिए खुश करते हैं। जब तुम लड़ाई में हिलने वाले हो, तब वज्र भी तुम्हारे पास आता है।
