Soma Pavamāna

Chandas

Jagati (likely due to longer pādas; needs confirm)

This short Pavamāna hymn praises Soma as he is purified in the filter, shining with golden light and overcoming all hostility as he flows in the rite. Soma is portrayed as the revealer of hidden treasure, the establisher of vitality through threefold powers, and as the divine chariot whose forward-moving radiance supports Indra’s victorious might in battle.

Mantras

Mantra 1

By this golden light, purifying himself, he crosses beyond all hatreds with his self-yoked steeds, like the Sun with his own yoked rays. The stream of the pressed Soma shines—purifying, the ruddy-golden one. When he moves around all forms with the seers, with the seven-mouthed powers of the Word.

Mantra 2

You find that treasure hidden by the Paṇis; with the Mothers you cleanse it in your own home—within the house of ṛta, by the acts of insight. Like a chant from afar is that place where the thoughts resound; shining, you establish the life-force by the threefold ruddy powers, you establish the life-force.

Mantra 3

He moves along the forward direction, clearly discerning; with his rays he is drawn together—his visible chariot, the divine visible chariot. The manly hymns came to Indra, gladdening him for victory; and the thunderbolt too—when you become unwavering in the battles, unwavering.
