This short hymn praises the Ādityas—especially Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman—as the all-knowing upholders of ṛta (cosmic order) whose vast ordinance grants true sovereignty (kṣatra) and protection. It emphasizes their steady movement in fixed laws (vrata) and their power to guard mortals from harm, while the Atri seer’s inspired thought (mati) presses toward them in worship.

बळित्था देव निष्कृतमादित्या यजतं बृहत् । वरुण मित्रार्यमन्वर्षिष्ठं क्षत्रमाशाथे ॥
देवताओं, आप आदित्य ने बड़ा नियम बनाया है। यह बहुत अच्छा और उचित है। वरुण, मित्र, अर्यमन, आप सबसे बड़े राज्य को पाते हैं। आपका शासन सबसे ऊपर है।

आ यद्योनिं हिरण्ययं वरुण मित्र सदथः । धर्तारा चर्षणीनां यन्तं सुम्नं रिशादसा ॥
जब वरुण और मित्र सोने जैसी जगह पर बैठते हैं, वो लोगों को संभालते हैं। तब वो खुशी का पानी बहाते हैं और बुराई को खत्म करते हैं।

विश्वे हि विश्ववेदसो वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा । व्रता पदेव सश्चिरे पान्ति मर्त्यं रिषः ॥
वरुण, मित्र और अर्यमन सब कुछ जानते हैं। वो अपने नियम के रास्ते पर चलते हैं जैसे कोई पक्की रेल लाइन हो। वो इंसान को बुराई से बचाते हैं और सही रास्ते पर रखते हैं।

ते हि सत्या ऋतस्पृश ऋतावानो जनेजने । सुनीथासः सुदानवोंऽहोश्चिदुरुचक्रयः ॥
यह तीनों सच्चे हैं और सही धर्म के पास हैं। वो हर जगह लोगों को सही रास्ता दिखाते हैं और खुल के देते हैं। जब मुसीबत आती है, वो रास्ता चौड़ा कर देते हैं।

को नु वां मित्रास्तुतो वरुणो वा तनूनाम् । तत्सु वामेषते मतिरत्रिभ्य एषते मतिः ॥
मित्र और वरुण में से किसी को भी लोग तारीफ के बिना नहीं छोड़ सकते। इसलिए लोगों का मन उनकी तरफ भागता है। अत्रि रिशि का मन भी उन्हीं की तरफ जाता है।
