Yeh mantra Ushas ko naman karta hai jo sabse pehle jagati hai. Woh andhera bhagake duniya ko roshan karti hai. Rishi log isliye pehle jaag jate hain kyunki woh sabko uthati hai. Ushas Surya aur Agni ki taraf le jati hai aur yajya ka marg dikhati hai. Hum maangte hain ki subah subah achhi tarah aaye. Woh taakat aur ujala laye aur humein raksha kare.

Mantra 1
प्रति स्तोमेभिरुषसं वसिष्ठा गीर्भिर्विप्रासः प्रथमा अबुध्रन् । विवर्तयन्तीं रजसी समन्ते आविष्कृण्वतीं भुवनानि विश्वा ॥
Vasishtha rishi aur unke saathi sabse pehle uthte hain. Woh Usha, yani subah ki roshni ke liye gaana gate hain. Usha dono taraf failti hai, aasman aur dharti dono ko chamkati hai. Woh saari duniya ko saaf dikhne lagti hai.

एषा स्या नव्यमायुर्दधाना गूढ्वी तमो ज्योतिषोषा अबोधि । अग्र एति युवतिरह्रयाणा प्राचिकितत्सूर्यं यज्ञमग्निम् ॥
Yeh subah nayi jaaga uthi hai, nayi taakat lekar. Andhera chupa ke roshni phaila di hai. Woh aage badh rahi hai, thakti nahi hai. Uski wajah se sooraj dikhne lagta hai, yagya ka kaam shuru hota hai, aur Agni prakat hota hai.

अश्वावतीर्गोमतीर्न उषासो वीरवतीः सदमुच्छन्तु भद्राः । घृतं दुहाना विश्वतः प्रपीता यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
Subah humesha achhi uthe, jisme taakat ho, gyaan ho, aur tej ho. Woh chaaron taraf se amrit jaisa meetha dudh deti hai, poora bhar ke. Aap humesha humara khayal rakho aur humein theek rakho.
