Soma Pavamāna (purifying Soma)
આ ટૂંકું પાવમાન સૂક્ત સોમની સ્તુતિ કરે છે: તે પવિત્ર (ગાળણી)માંથી વેગે વહે છે, ‘ઋતમ્ બૃહત્’ એવા વિશાળ બ્રહ્માંડિય નિયમ સાથે સુસંગત બને છે અને રક્ષસ્/વિઘ્નરૂપ અવરોધક શક્તિઓને ચકનાચૂર કરે છે. તેમાં ‘દસ કન્યાઓ’ (તૈયારીની આંગળીઓ/પ્રવાહો) દ્વારા સોમનું શુદ્ધિકરણ થતું દર્શાવવામાં આવ્યું છે, જેથી તે મધુર બની ઇન્દ્ર અને વિષ્ણુ માટે યોગ્ય બને—આ પરંપરાગત ચિત્રણ છે. અંતે રક્ષણપ્રાર્થના આવે છે: શુદ્ધ સોમ ગાયકોને પાપ અને દુઃખથી રક્ષે.

परि सोम ऋतं बृहदाशुः पवित्रे अर्षति । विघ्नन्रक्षांसि देवयुः ॥
વિશાળ ઋત (ઋતં બૃહત્)ની પરિધિમાં, ઝડપી સોમ પવિત્રક (પવિત્રે)માંથી વહે છે; અવરોધક શક્તિઓને તોડી, રક્ષાંસિ (અશુભ રક્ષસ્)ને વિઘ્નિત કરે છે—કારણ કે તે દેવયુઃ, દિવ્યનો શોધક છે.

यत्सोमो वाजमर्षति शतं धारा अपस्युवः । इन्द्रस्य सख्यमाविशन् ॥
યત્ સોમ વાજ (વાજ)ની પૂર્ણતા તરફ પ્રવાહિત થાય છે, ત્યારે તેની સો કર્મશીલ ધારાઓ ઇન્દ્રના સખ્યમાં પ્રવેશે છે.

अभि त्वा योषणो दश जारं न कन्यानूषत । मृज्यसे सोम सातये ॥
આનંદની દસ કન્યાઓ તારી તરફ પ્રિયતમ સમે દોડી આવે છે; હે સોમ, તું સત્યલાભની પ્રાપ્તિ માટે શુદ્ધ થાઈ રહ્યો છે.

त्वमिन्द्राय विष्णवे स्वादुरिन्दो परि स्रव । नॄन्त्स्तोतॄन्पाह्यंहसः ॥
હે ઇન્દુ, ઇન્દ્ર અને વિષ્ણુ માટે મધુર બની ચારે તરફ પ્રવાહિત થા; અમારા નરો—સ્તુતિકારોને—કષ્ટ અને પાપથી રક્ષા કર.
