ए॒तद् वो॒ ज्योतिः॑ पितरस्तृ॒तीयं॒ पञ्चौ॑दनं ब्र॒ह्मणे॒ऽजं द॑दाति । अ॒जस्तमां॒स्यप॑ हन्ति दू॒रम॒स्मिंल्लो॒के श्र॒द्दधा॑नेन द॒त्तः

etád vo jyótiḥ pitaras tṛtī́yaṃ pañcáudanaṃ bráhmaṇe ’jáṃ dadāti | ajás támāṃsy ápa hanti dūráṃ asmíṃl lókē śraddádhānena dattáḥ ||

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

This, O Fathers, is your third light: he giveth the fivefold rice-porridge, with a goat, unto the Brahman. The goat driveth the darknesses far away—here in this world—when it is bestowed by one who hath faith.

Translation

ഹേ പിതൃകളേ, ഇതാണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ജ്യോതി: അവൻ ബ്രാഹ്മണന് പഞ്ചൗദനം (അഞ്ചുവിധ അന്ന-പായസം) അജം (ആട്) സഹിതം ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു. അജം അന്ധകാരങ്ങളെ ദൂരത്തേക്ക് അകറ്റുന്നു—ഈ ലോകത്തുതന്നെ—ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ ദാനം ചെയ്താൽ.
