この一頌から成るラクショーグナ(魔障除け)の讃歌は、あらゆる方角の守護をブリハスパティとインドラに配して、完全な防護の結界を確立する。ブリハスパティには背後・上方/北方・下方から「悪をなす者」を退けることが祈願され、インドラは前方と中央を固め、共同体のために安全な「広い空間」(varīyas)を切り開き拡げる。
