この短いアタルヴァ・ヴェーダの讃歌は、治癒と繁栄を願う祈請を、マントラ権威の強い「据え付け」と結び合わせる。すなわち、水と太陽に甘美・浄化・歓喜・光輝を授けるよう求め、さらにサヴィトリ（Savitṛ）が広大な活力を確立する。ついで主題はヴァーチ（Vāc、神聖なる言語）の自己宣言へ移り、言語が宇宙秩序を整える力を持つと名乗ることで、誦者の発話を社会的・祭儀的に有効なものとする——「存在」を付与し、祭儀的支えを欠く敵対者の立場を否定しうる、とする。

विश्वस्रष्टा। मह्य॒मापो॒ मधु॑म॒देर॑यन्तां॒ मह्यं॒ सूरो॑ अभर॒ज्ज्योति॑षे॒ कम्। मह्यं॑ दे॒वा उ॒त विश्वे॑ तपो॒जा मह्यं॑ दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता व्यचो॑ धात्
わがために、蜜のごとき諸水よ、その力を起こせ。わがために、太陽は光のための歓喜をもたらした。わがために、神々よ、聖なる苦行の熱より生まれたすべての神々よ。わがために、神サヴィトリ（Savitṛ）が広く行き渡る威力を打ち立て給え。

我は大地を分かち整え、また天をも整えた。我は季節（ṛtu）を生じさせ、七つをともに立てた。われの語るところは、真と不真の両方を成り立たせる。われは神聖なる言（Vāc）をもって諸族の民を周く包む。

我は大地を生み、また天をも生んだ。我は季節（ṛtu）を生じさせ、七つの河（sindhu）をも生じさせた。われの語るところは、有と無、真と不真をともに成り立たせる――すなわち、伴侶の二神アグニとソーマ（Agni–Soma）が恵みを与えぬその者に対しても。
