この短いアタルヴァヴェーダ系のシャーンティ（鎮静）呪は、家の内外に鳩が現れるという凶兆を無力化する。鳩はニルリティ（災厄）の使者と解されるが、讃歌はそれを神々の統御と差遣のもとに置き、状況次第では吉兆ともなり得るものとして捉え直す。さらに、炉辺のアグニ（火）を守護の拠り所として据えることで、家を凶兆の支配から「解き放ち」、人と家畜の双方にśam（安寧・福祉）を確保する。

遣わされし鳩は吉祥であれ。神々よ、罪なき鳥の兆しがわれらの家に向けて善となれ。霊感あるアグニ（Agni）はわれらの供物を喜び受け取らん。翼ある飛び矢（禍の矢）はわれらをめぐりつつ、われらを避けて道を選べ。

翼ある凶器はわれらを傷つけるな。投げ石のごとく、火壇（agnidhāna、聖火を据える所）に足場を作るな。われらの牛にも人々にも吉祥であれ。神々よ、ここにいる鳩（kapota）がわれらを害さぬように。
