Indra
Triṣṭubh (common for Indra hymns in this mandala; probable here)
This short Indra-hymn of the Vasiṣṭha tradition summons the “mighty one” to come with power, enlarge the worshiper’s wealth, and establish victorious sovereignty in conflict. It links Indra’s martial radiance—raising the banner of light in battles—with Agni’s inward priesthood that calls the gods for well-being. The hymn closes by praising Indra as the giver of great riches and as the sure helper of the singer who “forms the brahman,” ending with a prayer for constant protection and auspiciousness.

Mantra 1
आ नो देव शवसा याहि शुष्मिन्भवा वृध इन्द्र रायो अस्य । महे नृम्णाय नृपते सुवज्र महि क्षत्राय पौंस्याय शूर ॥
हे देवता, अपनी ताकत लेकर हमारे पास आ। इंद्र, हमारे लिए धन और संपत्ति बढ़ा। तू लोगों का मालिक है, अच्छी बज्रा पकड़ा है। तू बहादुर है, बड़ा राज्य दे, शेर जैसी ताकत दे। हमारे लिए बड़ी बड़ाई और बहादुरी ला।

हवन्त उ त्वा हव्यं विवाचि तनूषु शूराः सूर्यस्य सातौ । त्वं विश्वेषु सेन्यो जनेषु त्वं वृत्राणि रन्धया सुहन्तु ॥
लोग तुम्हे पुकारते हैं, इंद्र। यह बहादुर लोग अपनी जान लगा के सूर्य जीतने के लिए तुम्हे बुलाते हैं। तुम सब लोगों में सबसे बड़े योधा हो। तुम दुश्मनों को, रास्ते में खड़े लोगों को, गिरा देते हो। तुम उन्हे मार डालते हो, सब ठीक कर देते हो।

अहा यदिन्द्र सुदिना व्युच्छान्दधो यत्केतुमुपमं समत्सु । न्यग्निः सीददसुरो न होता हुवानो अत्र सुभगाय देवान् ॥
जब इंद्र, अच्छे दिन आते हैं और चमकदार सुबह होती है। युद्ध में तुम उजाला फैलाते हो, सबसे ऊपर झंडा लगाते हो। तब अग्नि अंदर आके बैठता है, जैसे कोई बड़ा पंडित हो। वो देवताओं को बुलाता है, हमारे लिए अच्छा भाग्य लाने के लिए।

वयं ते त इन्द्र ये च देव स्तवन्त शूर ददतो मघानि । यच्छा सूरिभ्य उपमं वरूथं स्वाभुवो जरणामश्नवन्त ॥
हम और जो लोग तुम्हारी तारीफ करते हैं, सब तुम्हारे पास खड़े हैं इंद्र। तुम देवता हो, तुम बहुत ताकतवाले हो, तुम इंसानों को बड़े-बड़े तोहफे देते हो। अब रिशियों को वो सबसे बड़ा बचाओ दो। वो अपनी ताकत से काम में पक्के हो जाएँ, जीत के रहें।

वोचेमेदिन्द्रं मघवानमेनं महो रायो राधसो यद्ददन्नः । यो अर्चतो ब्रह्मकृतिमविष्ठो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
चलो इंद्र की बात करते हैं। वो बहुत देने वाला है। उसने हमें बड़ा धन दिया है, खुशियाँ दी हैं। जो लोग उसकी प्रार्थना करते हैं, उनका वो सबसे ज़्यादा साथ देता है। इंद्र हमेशा हमें ठीक रखे, सुख में रखे।
