Is mantra mein Indra ko Soma peene ke liye bulaya ja raha hai. Marut log bhi Indra ke saath hain, jaise veer sena ke saath hoti hai. Yeh Soma pe kar Indra khush ho jaye aur humari jeet mein madad kare. Indra ki taakat seedhi baat aur sahi waqt se judi hai. Pehle Vritra ko maarte waqt bhi Marut log Indra ke peeche the. Unhone hi Indra mein taakat bhari thi. Ab bhi humein nayi madad aur jeet chahiye. Isliye hum Soma de kar Indra ko prasann karte hain.

Mantra 1
मरुत्वाँ इन्द्र वृषभो रणाय पिबा सोममनुष्वधं मदाय । आ सिञ्चस्व जठरे मध्व ऊर्मिं त्वं राजासि प्रदिवः सुतानाम् ॥
Indra, tum Marut devtaon ke saath aao. Tum jaise ladai mein bail ho, Soma piyo. Apni khushi ke hisaab se piyo aur masti mehsoos karo. Apne pet mein meetha ras bharo. Tum aage wale aasman mein piye jaane wale ras ke raja ho.

सजोषा इन्द्र सगणो मरुद्भिः सोमं पिब वृत्रहा शूर विद्वान् । जहि शत्रूँरप मृधो नुदस्वाथाभयं कृणुहि विश्वतो नः ॥
Indra, Marut devtaon ke saath milkar Soma piyo. Tum Vritra ko maarne wale ho, tum bahut bahadur ho aur sab samajhte ho. Dushmanon ko khatam karo, buraai ko bhagao. Phir humein charo taraf se darr se aazaad karo.

उत ऋतुभिॠतुपाः पाहि सोममिन्द्र देवेभिः सखिभिः सुतं नः । याँ आभजो मरुतो ये त्वान्वहन्वृत्रमदधुस्तुभ्यमोजः ॥
Indra, tum rituon ke rakshak ho. Hamare Soma ras ko bachao, devtaon ke saath jo tumhare dost hain. Marut devta tumhare saath the, tumne unhe apna banaya. Unhone Vritra ko maara aur tumhe taakat di.

ये त्वाहिहत्ये मघवन्नवर्धन्ये शाम्बरे हरिवो ये गविष्टौ । ये त्वा नूनमनुमदन्ति विप्राः पिबेन्द्र सोमं सगणो मरुद्भिः ॥
Jinhone tumhe badhaya hai, Indra, woh log jo ahi ke maare mein the. Wahi log Shambara ki ladai mein the, aur jo light ke liye gaye the. Ab rishi tumhare naam le rahe hain. Indra, Marut ke saath milkar Soma piyo.

मरुत्वन्तं वृषभं वावृधानमकवारिं दिव्यं शासमिन्द्रम् । विश्वासाहमवसे नूतनायोग्रं सहोदामिह तं हुवेम ॥
Hum yahan bulaa rahe hain Indra ko, jo Marut ke saath aata hai aur bada ho raha hai. Woh upar wala hai, koi kanjoos nahi, sab pe jeetne wala. Hum use naya help ke liye pukarte hain.
