Inside Sukta 102

How it unfolds

  1. Where it opens

Soma is introduced as a growing ‘child of the great ones’ who impels the radiant thought of Ṛta and becomes universally beloved.

  2. Development

The hymn expands Soma’s role: his vrata brings the gods into harmony, and joy/rapture (ranti) arises as they consent to that established order.

  3. Climax

Soma, by will and with bright ‘eyes,’ opens the heavenly enclosure (vrajaṃ divaḥ), releasing light/abundance while driving Ṛta’s brilliance forward in the sacrifice.

  4. Where it settles

The movement settles into ritual efficacy: Soma’s inspired radiance is made to advance ‘in the adhvara,’ affirming purification as the means by which truth and power enter worship.
